Hey guys, since I don't think I can use the lone family car for all the things I want to do, I'm busily searching through classifieds and looking in web sites and going to car shows and I have a few choices, but what car would be a good one at under $22.5K in your opinions? Gratci.

Beetles suck. Import a 1999 Holden VT Commodore, a Calais if you can afford it.

They look stupid and sound worse than a Harley. Get a real car. Buy a Holden. Sit back and relax knowing that you *are* better than everyone else.

Beetles rock, Junklord. Especially ones that have been kept in awesome condition, not those run-down ones everyone drives around. But like the new ones, I don't get too much room, being I'm 5'11" with a small frame and really long legs.

The Camaro, I like late-'80s-'92 IROCs. The mouths on the new Camaros ('98-present) don't look all that nice, and on top of that, they have crappy mags for those things, otherwise I like the engine in it.

The Commodores look like our Cateras, and if I'm not mistaken, GM owns Holden (or Holden uses the GM chassis). They don't look too shabby, but I wouldn't go through the trouble of importing one though.

Trucks and jeeps... I flipped over in a Frontier Crew Cab during the summer on the freeway, didn't get hurt but it was quite a wreck. Being high off the ground freaks me out a bit after that whole fiasco.

Well I'm 6'1" and 166 lbs, and I *do not* fit into small cars. GM does owns Holden.

Is this sort of what your Catera's look like?
What is $22 500 in AUD$? Must be about double. Buy a good car that can outrun a cop trying to give you a speeding ticket. I don't know what Toymota and Mitsushity market elsewhere in the world, but they make some nice fast cars that look good and aren't that expensive.

Chevy Monte Carlo or a Ford F150(I know; not a car) the Monte Carlo is fairly quick and looks good although I like the truck better.

Dawg: I'm considering a Mustang GT, though my mom's side of the family is anti-Ford. However, it looks nicer than the Camaro IMO. Maybe I can put a Roush package when I have the dinero.

Junklord: $22,500USD = $42,550AUD...

Here's a Catera...

Mitsubishis are overrated. Other than the Celica, Toyota's line looks crappy over here.

Oh yeah, about outrunning the police... you must not have many chases in Australia? I live in Southern California. Out of all the chases here, only one guy's been able to make it to Mexico but he was caught anyway. And then you get the people who do that whole suicide thing.

theelf: I love the Monte Carlo, but would want nothing less than an SS.

I'll be paying out the ass for a Hummer

I sat in one at the Auto Show. Nice and big, but it's kind of cramped and it takes diesel. Not too many stations around my area have diesel unfortunately. That, and I'd be giving too many kids rides home from school though I could just mow them down. Hmm...

Eh.... Chrysler was good back in "tha day", but now they suck major Viking butt. You couldn't give me a Chrysler.

Heh, the Viper can only match the performance of the Corvette, but it costs twice as much as the Corvette and has none of the features...

yes chryslers suck, but i am not really a car person - i like dodge trucks and well chrysler fucked up jeep, I wish it was still AMC, then we could still have the J10 and commanche, and maybee they would have revived the CJ.
I like a few mercades but not all, and i dont think i'll be driving any semi's
(dcx is wthe worlds largest commercial vehicle producer, making american la france - freightliner - sterling - thomas built busses - detroit desiel - western star - and some other shit.)

Matter of fact.... Motor Trend tested a Corvette not that long ago that takes that title. It was a tuner 'Vette, but it's street-legal and publicly available. It is the world's fastest street-legal sports car at 226mph, besting the McClaren F1...

OK guys, I'm not in a mid-life crisis. This is a first car people

Sarge and xapec: I saw the H2 at the LA Auto Show last month. It's really not all that great. Looks like AMC met up with Tonka and Meccano R&D people and made a 1:1 scale Erector set. I still like the H1. They only made 39 slant-backed H1's for this year. Very pricey.

Weedsatan: Yes, the Callaway is one fast mofo. I'll give it that, but where am I gonna pull 200+ other than getting a transporter and taking it to speedway? And I think the C5 Vettes are probably the best looking Vettes ever made, and I used to think the C4's looked cool but man, it looks ugly now. And Audi TT's are "chick" cars, I cannot see myself driving in something like that. And they suck. I love the Audi S4 though (does Justin have an A4 or an S4?)

And I like the Viper, the best looking car on the road IMO, though Dodge's better days were back "in tha day."
