A good thought Sumosound. But, I wonder about the problems you've had with RealPlayer 8 not reading a .pls file. I haven't encountered any unless another app steals the file association away in Windows.

Real Player
The competative environment for multimedia apps dictates that they vie for file associations and mime types to keep themselves prominent on your desktop and browser respectively. Real uses a proprietary format for streaming audio and tries to "steal" alternative non-proprietary multimedia formats reassociating file and mime types thereby disabling the competitions' apps and forcing exclusive use of Real Player. Warning: If you install Real Player on your computer and it breaks you can keep both pieces.
