"I can't find any files in your playlist, exiting" ice cast error...
I have ice cast 1.3.11 and shout 0.8.0 up and running on my linux box. When I run icecast it works as it should, but when I run "shout" I get the error "I can't find any songs in your playlist, exiting." I made my playlist using windows with winamp and saved it as list.pls. Then I put list.pls in the /usr/local/icecast/etc directory where it is supposed to be. I edited the file to point the mp3 on my linux box. Here is my list.pls file:
[playlist] File1=/usr/local/icecast/bin/3_Doors_Down_Kryptonite.mp3 Title1=3 Doors Down - Kryptonite Length1=234 Now, I don't understand why it's not playing the song? Shout also gives errors like "No such file or directory" and "Could not access file [File1=/usr/local/icecast/bin/3_Doors_Down_Kryptonite.mp3" If anyone could help I would really appreciate it! I've gotten this far and now I just can't get the songs to play! |

If the playlist file is in the same dir as the mp3's, then there's no need to include the path, just the filename will do.
At the mo, it seems like you've got yours pointing to: .../usr/local/icecast/bin/usr/local/icecast/bin/ Otherwise you've gotta include the full url, eg. starting with http://..... Edit the pls file with Notepad to correct the path errors. You might also want to call the file listen.pls instead

i dont know...
I put the listen.pls file in the /usr/local/icecast/etc directory along with all the mp3s that are indexed in the listen.pls file.
When I run shout I still get the same error "I can't find any songs in your playlist, exiting" Here is my new listen.pls file (in the /usr/local/icecast/etc directory along with the mp3s): [playlist] File1=[Sublime]_16_What_I_Got_(Reprise).mp3 Title1=Sublime - What I Got (Reprise) Length1=181 File2=[Nirvana]_-_About_a_Girl.mp3 Title2=[Nirvana] - About a Girl Length2=99 File3=[Radiohead]_-_High_and_Dry.MP3 Title3=Radiohead - High and Dry Length3=60 File4=[Sublime]_14_Get_Ready.mp3 Title4=Sublime - Get Ready Length4=290 File5=(Culture Club) - Karma Chameleon.mp3 Title5=Culture Club - Karma Chameleon Length5=241 File6=02 - Rehab - It dont matter.mp3 Title6=rehab - it don't matter Length6=220 File7=05 - Pavane pour une Infante Defunte - Maurice Ravel.mp3 Title7=William Orbit - Pavane pour une Infante Defunt Length7=371 NumberOfEntries=7 Version=2 I don't know what is going on here, but I just can't get this damn thing to work! I've been trying for over 6 hours! I just did a fresh install of the icecast server and shout so everything is pretty much un touched except for all the necessary configurations. Maybe you guys know of a better program to use besides shout? Soemthing basic and easy to set up? But from undertstanding that is what shout is supposed to be! ![]() Help me... PLEAASE!?

Maybe try the full url instead, eg.
http://www.website.com/usr/local/icecast/etc/[Nirvana]_-_About_a_Girl.mp3 What's this /etc thing all about? Is that the name of the dir? And why do you use [] ? I'm not sure if you can use those in a url ![]() As far as I know, you're supposed to run the playlist for SHOUTcast off your own HD, not from files on the web. Or at least the playlist should be on your HD and open in the Winamp Playlist window, even if it links to mp3's on the internet. Maybe try the SHOUTcast forum instead?
