Extra AVS color yummyness
Excuse the uninformative title
.Here's just a little update for what I believe was the most useful APE from Whacko AVS IV: the Channel Shifter. Because it was only good in feedback loops, I added an onbeat option that'll make it switch around randomly between the available modes. This is an easy way of adding more colourvariations to your presets... comments always appreciated. You can just replace the older version if you have it, presets using it should still work fine. For those who don't know what the letters in the APE mean: The channel shifter takes the Red, Green and Blue values for each pixel and switches them around according to the pattern selected (or randomly). Choosing 'RGB' won't do anything (I left it in for the onbeat option). Using 'GBR' or 'BRG' in a feedback loop will cycle the colours around (r becomes g, g becomes b, ... or vice versa). If you use something like e.g. 'BGR', then green will stay green, but blue and red will be changed around. |

Perhaps it's the presets I'm using, but I found that with gradual colour changes, there was some flickering, almost like the APE couldn't decide what colour to make it. I haven't tried on any comp except my laptop, which is currently experiencing some problems, though.

I managed to re-create the problem I think you're having
If I scaled down one of my presets to where it ran at about 32 fps, it did seem to have a little flicker. If I got the fps around 20, it didn't seem to do it, though. Just an interesting thought. Otherwise, I think it's great.
--C.Mountford-- P.S. I decided to attach the preset I used to re-create the possible problem mentioned in the last post. This preset isn't for posting-not yet, anyway . The Eye is supposed to be like Sauron's eye in the Fellowship of the Ring movie. I'll post several versions in the Presets section for some people like unconed to help me with the details.

It's supposed to do that... just like Trans / Invert will cause stroboscopic-like flickering when placed in a feedback loop.

that's good to know
I've tried tinkering around it with some of my presets; and I like it-especially with the FyreWurx effects when combined with Water. The new OnBeat feature is pretty cool in those types of presets-especially with fast songs. Thanks again, UnConeD

Glad you like it
... I made it to get more colour variation in the 2 3D-ape presets in WA-4. The original was nice, but I had to leave it on one mode. Now, with onbeat, it's much better.I wrote the APE so that older versions of it would automatically get onbeat enabled. If you look at Yummy Plastics now, you should notice the increased variation in colors. |

It should be possible to crossfade between the modes.
That would be great if it would work just like the onbeat mirroring, checking certain options and crossfade between them. |
