Help seeing titles in playlist using Win98SE 4.10.2222

After I've d/loaded the vbfix prog, the .dll file suggested with another 98se prob, uninstalled-reinstalled and so on. Exact prob: the artist/track info doesn't load in playlist (only digits from the title and track length appear) - info loads fine in track window. Makes it impossible to know what track I'm selecting in playlist.

EDIT: tried configuring mpeg plugin with all sorts of %1-2, %7 combos with and without any and all boxes unchecked - still nothing.

%1 - %2
not %1-2

Also, could you please explain this in a bit more detail:

Downloaded in_midi.dll (as was recommended to somebody else with probs on Win98se 4.10.2222), d/loaded an exe file to fix some win fault again recommended elsewhere (I really have trawled this place), tried regenerating mp3s using the vbx prog and configuring, as you rightly corrected, the mpeg with %1-%2, ticking and uncrossing all the boxes, trying every combination. Still nothing - the track titles are recognised in EVERY other prog: Wmplayer, Real, Jetaudio etc etc but not in Winamp - extremely annoying situation this. And, as in original post, tried uninstall/reinstall...
