The w32/pate.b.worm VIRUS

This isn't a bug issue, but similar. I use WIndows XP and I have been hit with the virus posted in the subject line above. I suspect that it came from something I downloaded and installed from Winamp. The virus prevents me from indstalling Java Virtual Machine and secutiry updates. It also messes with my apps on occasion. It's a minor hassle, but a persistent one. For more info about it, go here:

I'm just wondering if anyone else has been hit with any worms using Winamp. (I love 2.81, and use it as my default player, but I've basically stopped downloading plugins.)

Saludos,

Olegna

Moved from wa2-bugs to wa2-disc

All the files on winamp.com are certified virus-free.

Next time it hits you, find more info on what file the virus is infecting(I have Norton and it displays the path of the infected file right away)

I bet you got it from somewhere else. It couldn't have been from winamp.com

Many sites distribute Winamp. I would be cautious when downloading from a non-official source, especially private pages. You never know what you catch .

Winamp.com is virus-free, definitely.

Use http://classic.winamp.com/download/ for downloading Winamp, so you don't get any virus.
