Steve and Justin and Mike the Llama decided that Propaganda and Music-O-Rama had to go. So they came up with the idea of making Music-O-Rama into DJ & Listener Center, and putting Propaganda into Breaking News. This place has never been the same since. But good threads will never die. They are the only ties to better days gone by. |

Interesting forum, but disturbed by the original comment "Girls are the downfall of society." Obviously he doesn't get in touch with his feminine side. It's a little like comparing apples and oranges: you have to know the right combination to make a great fruit salad...

The Joy Of Sharing
A young man saw an elderly couple sitting down to lunch at McDonald's. He noticed that they had ordered one meal, and an extra drink cup. As he watched, the older gentleman carefully divided the hamburger in half, then counted out the fries, one for him, one for her, until each had half of them. Then the old man poured half of the soft drink into the extra cup and set that in front of his wife. The old man then began to eat, and his wife sat watching, with her hands folded in her lap. The young man decided to ask if they would allow him to purchase another meal for them so that they didn't have to split theirs. The old gentleman said, "Oh, no. We're old. This is plenty for us. Besides, we've been married 50 years, and everything has always been and will always be shared, 50/50." The young man then asked the wife if she was going to eat her share, and she replied, "Not yet. This time he gets the first turn with the teeth." See there... we can all get along if we want to. |

How are you, papadoc? It's been a very long time. I am now at uni, studying psychology, I just received my first exam results back and I have passed everything, I am quite pleased about that. I went on a date with a new boy I have met. So we shall see what happens there! I still look exactly the same, unfortunately *lol*. I'll be dropping back again, so drop me a reply! Papadoc, did you ever get msn or aim or icq or y!?

Hey Spunk. Good to see you back.
Sounds like things are going great. I hope you know I'm still really proud of you. And if you still look the same then I'm still impressed. ![]() Me...I'm hangin in there. I was diagnosed with Menieres Disease a few of weeks ago, in my right ear. I have good days and bad days. But if I can beat drug addiction I can live with this too. It's just gonna take some time to get used to it. And I refuse to let it get me down. Take care and keep up the good work. Don't let those guys try to change you, ok?

Nice poem, izchan.
Hiya papdoc. Yea, stuff is going quite well at the moment, I must admit. It somehow feels more comfortable to be miserable but I have difficulty doing that so much lately. Hey, why be proud of me, I haven't done anything to earn it yet! I am sorry to hear you have Menieres Disease, I know a few people (relatives) who also have it. At times my ear rings, softly, but it goes away and only happens rarely. Nobody is going to change me, not ever! sunshine on the window makes me happy, like i should be, outside all around me, really sleazy, then it hits me, don't tell me you can't see what it means to me! meanwhile, in the moonlight, purple people, unforseeable, lonely as they may be, they'll be peachy, then it hits me... |

Damn this is a huge thread. I found this a while back, and have been slowly reading the entire damn thing. I actually found it as a side-link to something a friend showed me, and signed up because this thread interested me, and the people here seem to really care about each other.
What can I say? Izchan, you sound like a very rare person. Somebody who knows what they want, can say what they want, and can express emotions openly. A very rare thing in today's world. spunkbubble & jns sound like very good people who shouldn't get screwed around like they seem to have been in the past. Love will hurt eventually. There is no if's, but's, or maybe's about it. Whether this is a week after you meet, or when you are both old & grey, and lying in your deathbeds, it hurts eventually. The question is whether or not the eventual pain is worth the trip you will take together to reach it. In many cases, the answer is no, and people will break up all the time. Sometimes they try to stick together for whatever reason, but if it isn't going to work, 9/10 times, this is a bad idea. Relationships end, and there is no way to have a love affair with someone that will keep you as excited as it does in the first couple of weeks of fire & passion. The question is whether or not you can actually truly love somebody, not just have a surface level affection for them, but actually develop a heart-felt, deep feeling, true love for the other person. This means a different thing to everybody, and when you figure that out, then you can go searching for that person, and if you want to, you can still have relationships while you search. Just remember to enjoy them while they last, and do not go into the relationship either expecting her to be 'the one', nor do you go into it expecting her to not be 'the one'. If she is, then you have succeeded. If not, then enjoy it while it lasts, and when it ends, pick yourself up out of the pit of misery & despair that you will occasionally find yourself in, and try again. Just a side note, many people subscribe to an idea of only 1 person who is just right for them, and spend their lives looking for that person. That isn't correct, IMO. There are many people out there that you could be happy spending your remaining days on this little blue planet with. The trick is finding them, and having them feel the same about you as you do about them. A relationship where neither one of you is truly in love, but you both have a surface level affection for the other person is fine if you can handle that, and both care about each other. It is not something that will last forever, if even particularly long, so do not expect such things to be long-lasting, love-of-your-life experiences. They are fun for you both while it lasts, but is far from permanent. A permanent relationship is a very big thing, and many people aren't ready for it. People mature at different rates, and one 18 Yr old girl could be ready for that, while another just couldn't handle something as important as that. Just don't expect your partner to be something they aren't, and accept them as they are. Many people wander this world without a clue what tey truly want, and hence they never find it. Many of these people are perfectly happy in their own little corner of the world, and if you are happy, then so be it. Just try to find somebody that makes you happy, makes your world just that little bit more pleasant, and enjoy the ride while it lasts. Last edited by Tavernology; 22nd July 2003 at 17:01. |

Wow. How's that for a first post, eh?
And in all that, I forgot to mention that girls aren't the cause of the downfall of society. Nor are women. Nor are men or boys (Most of us can't tell the difference between man & boy, but that's another rant for another time). There is no single cause for the downfall of society, and as yet, it hasn't happened. We are just a group of 6 or 7 billion people trying to edge out our own little niche in the world, and trying to be happy. Anybody who can do that, congratulations. To everyone else that hasn't got there yet, keep trying, and don't give up. |

you know....there is some truth to this story...when i was in high school i only dated guys out of high school mainly because they had a car, money and could get me wasted.
now i am much older and wonder why 20 something guys where going out with teenagers.....i mean...ew. anyway, there's no secret to picking up girls... hangout where kids hang out and meet a girlchild, buy her stuff, taxi her around and do whatever she says....basicly be her bizatch. and in return she will mostlikely never sleep with you and you will recieve death threats from her father. doesnt that sound like fun? |

I'm 20, and I have no interest in teenagers. For the most part, they bugged me even when I was one of them. Many are shallow, pathetic little individuals who have not grown up at all since they were 12 or 13, and I thought this at the time I had to go to school with a heap of them. I truly do not understand the desire for 20-something guys to date teenie-bopper 16 year olds.
There are some people there that are genuinely nice people, who are real people, not just following the latest Britney craze, or something equally bizarre & sheepish. People who are actually what they appear to be, people who are true to themselves. These people are rare, but the ones I find, I am friends with, and I value them dearly. The stuff I wrote above I have gathered from my experiences, and the experiences of my friends. I have picked it up from listening to all sides of many a relationship discussion. Every relationship is different, as are all people. If it were any other way, would life be as interesting or fun? Last edited by Tavernology; 24th July 2003 at 13:53. |

but i'm not the stereo-typical girl
at least i try my damndest not to be, hell, i've even paid for dates. i'm actually sick of women/girls who just always expect the "princess" treatment, as if it was their due. gawd... it kills me, these females ruin it for the rest of us. |

Rocketgirl, I know there are heaps of adults that act that way aswell, I ignore them, too.
ShyShy, I know what you mean. anyone who expects to get the princess treatment is a fool who needs to wake up to reality. I'm a nice guy, and I treat people well, but I'm not about to make my life revolve around some stupid, stuck-up pain in the ass. I much prefer real people. |

![]() Thanks for the complement Tavernology. Women are downfall of man
I think you are onto something there i watched a show on History Channel where World War II used women spies to get info from Soldiers and they were successful they cost a lot of Countries many a life and the War by getting codebreaker. There are some good wmen out there they are few and far in between that odds are you are going to get burned. All through History women have been man's downfall not their fault our's for not being smart enough to see through them.I am a lot older and wiser now and i haven't dated in two years and wouldn't trade it for nothing. No man knows what they really want they don't know so how are we supposed to know?I know one thing they are high maintnance one's that cost a small fortune some more than others. The best kind are the one's that were born and didn't get a chance or oppurtunity to run around in High School with Jocks and older men who had money/cars/Cell Phone and a home of his own.I could go on forever i think you get the point though .Moral of story keep your Pc as best friend
