CD Compatablility
Hey, all. I've got this cd that won't play on WinAmp. All my other cds play fine, but this one doesn't. So I opened it up in windows exploreer, and found that it's supposed to play on something called Noodle, which I've never heard of before. I like WinAmp, and don't really want to use this Noodle thing, whatever it is.
I've got an SBLive card, and the cd plays through the SB player just fine, and through my ATI player as well, but I prefer to use WinAmp. Anybody know of any fixes for this? The only files I can actually see on the cd are all called Colossus. Thanks. |

No, actually it freezes my whole system. Tried it with a few other cds, and get the same result, total system lockup. I think that may be a problem with either SBLive or the Radeon Multimedia center ... but I'm a novice at this stuff. I don't really want the SB cd audio player, or the ATI audio player ... don't have as much control over sound quality with those as I do with WinAmp, but I like some of the features with SB ... what I'd like to do is use WinAmp with its equalizer in conjuction with the effects settings of SBLive (I like the added depth of the concert hall setting.) But it freezes when I try to play audio cds.

Um ... to clarify, it freezes when I try to play the CDs through the main menu - play audio cd.

Problem solved. I had to disable DMA on the CD drive. Thanks for the help.
