Unable to play internet radio

I am running win2k and winamp 2.91. No problems until today. Now mp3s and internet tv play as usual but internet radio won't play. The http sites don't load up any more. I uninstalled Nero 6 last night and am wondering if I may have deleted a codec or whatever. I have reinstalled winamp 2.91 but the problem remains. Any suggestions appreciated.

In Winamp...
Ctrl+P (for preferences) > Setup > File types > make sure pls and m3u are highlighted > make sure 'Register types on Winamp start' is checkmarked > close & restart Winamp

You may need to clear the internet cache
MS Internet Explorer
Tools > Internet Options... > General tab > click Delete Files button under "Temporary Internet Files"
-or-
Control Panel > Internet Options icon > General tab > click Delete Files button under "Temporary Internet Files"

The problem was resolved by clearing the internet cache, thank you. BTW, what was that all about with the cache? TIA

The internet cache is where various internet files are temporary stored for fast access. The cache can get too large and that will "clog up" access. More info from the following thread...

Cannot stream from nugs.net | (Beginning of thread)

Whoa! Hold on...yes, it worked, three hours later when I attempted to play internet radio problem recurred and was NOT fixed by clearing the cache- I also reduced the cache to 670mgs. Also puzzled by the fact that as before, internet tv plays fine. Given that the first fix no longer works, any suggestions?

Sorry I don't have any other suggestions. Please post a reply with answers to the following questions. Hopefully someone else will jump in and help

Windows Version?
Memory?
CPU & Speed?
DirectX version? (Start button > Run... > type DXDIAG > click OK > System tag)
Soundcard?
Internet connection & speed?
Did you have any third party Winamp plug-ins (add-ons)?

Does it go "on the fritz" after playing X number of hours? I am wondering if it might be a sound driver issue. Try going to the support site of your computer provider or the site of the motherboard's manufacturer for an update to the AC97 drivers.

Also make sure your are using the correct output plug-in.
Winamp > Ctrl+P (for preferences) > Plug-ins > Output > select DirectSound

FYI - Usually DirectSound used for Win2000 or WinXp and waveOut is used for Win 9x, ME or NT4

The plugin is Direct sound.Observing what happens when I click on the station It would appear to be a buffering problem - it connects but the response doesn't build up with the signal.
For sure it didn't play after the pc was left on for a few hours, on the other hand I powered the pc down and powered up again but no dice. I'll check the AC97 drivers.

Well, the drivers are the most recent. I also discovered that winamp will not play cda files although it is checked off - no audio, yet wmp will play them.I thought the codecs were built into Winamp? Is there a fix for it, maybe it's related to the original problem?
