Faster reproduction after hit pause
First of all: win2k sp4, ie6 sp1, winamp 2.91 on sound card dmx 6fire
Then: I have a problem, when I play an mp3 everything is ok but if I hit pause and then again play, the song plays faster! The same occours if I move the cursor of the timeline... I looked for similar 3ds but I couldn't find anything good... thanks

Unless you've installed any DSP/FX plugins which affect pitch/tempo, then the only logical explanation for something like this happening is bad soundcard drivers.
Make sure you've got the correct & latest Win2k drivers for the dmx6fire, and if you haven't done so already, upgrade DirectX to 9.0b. Make sure DirectSound Output is selected as the output plugin in Winamp. Play with the out_ds config, eg. checkmark: "allow hardware acceleration" (device tab), "enable cpu usage control" (buffer tab). You could also try turning "hardware acceleration" down a notch in: start -> run -> dxdiag ("sound" tab) btw, are all file formats affected? (mp3, wma, wav, ogg, audio cd, etc) |

DJ Egg thanks for your answer but unfortunately I don't have plugins related to pitch nor tempo, I have the last drivers for my soundcard, and I have DirectX 9.0b
The DirectSound Output is ok I checked all the formats and they're all affected NEWS: I noticed I have the same problem with WMP9, could it depends from a codec?

Update:
I upgraded to winamp3 (again) and now I have the same problem! I upgraded my sound card drivers (again) What can I do? Is it useful to post the question in the winamp3 forum?

If it's happening with all of Winamp 2.x, Winamp3, and WMP,
then it's not a setting in any of the software players to blame. It's a hardware or drivers or windows config issue... Though I'm not sure what it is to blame exactly. Try uninstalling the sound drivers, shut down the comp, then physically move the soundcard to a different pci slot, bootup and then install the drivers again. Then reinstall DirectX 9.0b If the problem persists, check the pc or motherboard manufacturer's website for updated chipset drivers and patches. You should also go to: start -> run -> msconfig In the "Startup" tab, disable all non-essential startup programs/apps. The following lists should help you to identify what everything is, and whether they're essential or not: http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup...artup_full.htm http://www.lafn.org/webconnect/mento...p/PENINDEX.HTM |
