new shoutcast and serverside relay

hey all

is it possible thats theres going to be a new versions of shoutcast, possibly for winamp3 or winamp2 and without as many bugs!? (also so shoutcast supports ogg vorbis =)

also is it possible (either by nullsoft or a 3rd party tool) to relay a stream at a lower bitrate (so you have a main shoutcast server, you also have a server side version, which will connect to the main stream, and say lower the bitrate and restream) insteead of connecting to two shoutcast servers if your have crap upload bandwidth =)

there is a java version which does it for ogg vorbis out and about somewhere which does this

cheers

Not sure about the SHOUTcast versions, but check out Oddsock's Transcoder streamTranscoder.

This application was designed to provide opportunities for broadcasters to support multiple types of formats/bitrates/samplerates for their streams. It will act as both a listener client (for many different types of streams) AND as a source client (for many different types of streaming servers.
This means it can run on the server side, listen to the main DNAS, and source another DNAS at a different bitrate.

If that's not what you're after, please elaborate.

ah-ha!

so the shoutcast will alrdy relay it on the server!

so wot code do i change in the config file (the ini file for the relay server) so i can make it relay our broadband stream (when on-air) at a lower bitrate at say 24kbps or 32kbps

cheers

Please re-read my reply.

You need to setup a transcoder to tune into the main DNAS and send it's output to a different DNAS.

What you want cannot be done DNAS to DNAS directly.

ah ryte we alrdy do that, but is there nethin that can pic up say our broadband stream and re stream it at a lower bitrate that we can put on our server, instead of wasting bandwidth and upload 2 streams

That's exactly what the transcoder does.

Send one stream to a DNAS and spawn other streams from there.
