Hello, this is my first posting.
After an installation of Winamp, I tried to listen a live broadcast on the internet, but faild. I tried it on the following URL: http://www.nhk.or.jp/rj/index_e.html rjrmt56.asx (Windows Media Format 56kbps) Does not Winamp support Windows Media Format ? Please give me an advice. |

Thank you for your reply.
I afterwards found out from a Microsoft's web site quote: "Active Stream Redirector (.ASX) is one of the file types supported by Windows Media Player. .ASX files donft actually contain any streaming media – instead, they provide information telling Windows Media Player where to find a particular media stream on an intranet or Internet site, and how to use it." According to the threads you kindly mentioned, I first downloaded tera_1.0.3b.exe and installed. Then streamings by RealAudio formats got available on my computer, though Windows's ASX files couldnot open. Later, I installed SpinAmp_v2.66.exe, but the situation still did not change. Now I can enjoy RealAudio formats by Winamp2.91, thanks a lot, appreciating your hint. |

The links posted by Sawg provide the answer.
The ASX url (c/o the "Listen" button) is: http://www.nhk.or.jp/rj/asx/rjwmt56.asx Right click this and select "save target as" Open the saved ASX file in Notepad. This reveals the following text: <ASX Version="3.0"> <TITLE>NHK RJ 56k</TITLE> <AUTHOR>NHK Radio Japan</AUTHOR> <copyright>NHK</copyright> <ENTRY> <Ref href="mms://rj-wmt.gekimedia.net/rj56" /> <Ref href="mms://rj-wmt.gekimedia.net/rj28" /> <Ref href="mms://rj-wmt-m.gekimedia.net/rj56" /> <Ref href="mms://rj-wmt-m.gekimedia.net/rj28" /> </ENTRY> </ASX> Winamp 2.81 and earlier: Playlist -> add -> location Copy & paste the following: mms://rj-wmt.gekimedia.net/rj56/.wma Then double click the new playlist entry, and wait for the stream to buffer, and then it will play. The following url also works, but I'm not sure if one of them is adverts and the other is the actual station . . . mms://rj-wmt-m.gekimedia.net/rj56/.wma For Winamp 2.9x, extensionless mms:// streams no longer work. (Hopefully, Nullsoft will come up with a fix for this soon). Instead, you need to change it from mms:// protocol to http:// protocol. Note: Not all mms:// streams also support http:// protocol. You'll be happy to know that Radio Japan Online does! http://rj-wmt.gekimedia.net/rj56/.wma http://rj-wmt-m.gekimedia.net/rj56/.wma Both these streams work in Winamp 2.91 (as I said, I'm not sure if they're both the same or not, but I'm sure you will) We also recommend that you replace the WMA Input plugin (in_wm.dll) with this older (undoctored by Microsoft) version from Winamp 2.50. The benefits of this are working volume control, EQ and alternative Output plugins (eg. DirectSound Output). (note: make sure Winamp is closed first, then unzip in_wm.dll to the Winamp\Plugins folder, thus overwriting the current version, or you can backup the current in_wm.dll first if you wish). http://www.public.asu.edu/~abarber2/.../in_wm_old.zip |

Thank you for your detailed explanation, Mr.DJ Egg.
In Winamp 2.91, I successfully listen to live broadcasts by adding these URLs on the playlist. So I am very pleased now. I am very grateful for your help. See you later. |
