Question of Ports

For those of you that host your own servers.

What port do you use? I use port 8001, but 8002 also needs to be open. The problem is, port 8002 is blocked no matter what. (FYI - It's not a router problem.) Port 8002 is taken up by Teradata, a division of NCR, it's not a program, it is used by the interent is automatically using that port. Is there any way to get around that?

I have 8000 blocked also, that's why I moved on. 8000 is being used by something called irdmi, which I have yet to figure out what that is. I've done research on Shoutcast, and I found that ports 8000-8005 can be used for Shoutcast.

technicly, you should use ports that go up in 2's, e.g. port 8000 or 8002 or you could go down in 2's, like port 7998 or 7996.
Btw, why are your ports blocked?

if your not running a webserver you can use port 80, irdmi is actually the name of the port, i would assume you have some popup/ad or spam connected to that port

I am running a web server though, so that idea is out.

To RyuKin, my ports are blocked because Teradata is using port 8002 (why? i have yet to find out why and what it really does). Port 8000 is the irdmi, and yet, it shouldn't be blocked.

Ok, well try using port 8004 and/or 7998. They SHOULD work.
Make sure that in the winamp plug-in, you have the correct encoder set to the port and make sure they are set up correctly.
