For buffering from the server, make sure there is enough upload from the DNAS machine to serve the listeners at the target bitrate.
Check out the Sticky post titled: SHOUTcast: Important Info & Answers to FAQs. READ ME! Scroll down a bit and look for the section titled: 1. DNAS Stuff -> Bandwidth -> DSLReports Bandwidth tester(Only be concerned with the UPLOAD bandwidth) 2. DNAS Stuff -> Bandwidth -> CasterClub's Listener Calculator 3. DNAS Stuff -> Bandwidth -> CasterClub's Bandwidth Calculator Use 1 to find your upload. Use 2 to determine the number of listeners you can support at your selected streaming bitrate. Additionally, your listeners download needs to exceed your streaming bitrate. Jay (KXRM) also has a Bandwidth Calculator. ****************** For source to server connection problems (e.g. skipping), try running a local DNAS and have the main DNAS relay it. This has been known to help with synchronization. |

Thank you for the input
However I am not running a local server, the place I go through is providing the bandwidth and has been tested.
So its not the bandwidth.. thought it could be too but not? Any other ideas would be appreciated. Most people that are using cable or dsl are not having problems it is mainly with the people who are using Dial up and ideas on making it better for them so it won't buffer ?? Thanks so much for your response ! DJ JAZELL www.rockmeradio.com |

56k modem dialup users can (should be able to at least) listen to 24kbps streams ok.
Maybe 32kbps at times, but not consistently. |
