What Is Your Favourite Genre and Why

The title says it all.
For me well all types of metal, all types of rock and, some types of punk and some dance. I like these because there beats arent constant and there lyrics acctually make sense. Rap, hip hop.....etc has all these shortened words that are applied and it makes it sound crap, that and the fact that there beats are constant like dum dum chhhhh.

What dance do you like then Taylor?

I'm not overly keen on pure rap either (as they say, rap is crap), but fuse it with metal or house and it can be excellent (Pop Will Eat Itself, The 25th of May, RATM, Beastie Boys even). Public Enemy did one half-decent album.

I haven't got a favourite genre, I generally listen to 'Alternative Rock & Pop'. Which covers most things. In my teens I listened exlusively to metal, but now it's evenly matched between guitar & electronic bands. I don't know about you Taylor but I've got stacks of bands in pipeline, I could use a larger HD.

Is your version of Cosmic Gate/Fire Wire the club mix (8:14)? It rocks. I also have Robert Miles/Children, but that's it from your selection. I must have 5,000 electronic tunes, but not a great deal of trance in there. The trance I do have probably hasn't fared well in the charts (good thing too)!

Favorite genre: Rock

Why: Because "Rock" encapsulates so many other great genre's. What could be said of "Rock" could probably be said of many other genres, but none of those could be so widely encompassing. Yeah, gimme Rock and you give me a whole big slug of music!

Whoa! You see it too?!

Rock. It can be metal, it can be alternitive, it can be punk. It's got so many sub-genres, you really kind of have to be specific when you say "I like rock music". Not to mention rock music can just put out so many emotions. Aggressive, mellow, senseble (Lyrics are something most anyone can relate to; Not everyone can really relate to having bling-bling Escalades and shootin' people up in most mainstream rap... ), fits almost just about anything (Except for the rare case of an "I love you" rock song... ).

A very close Japanese friend I knew a while ago once said to me "Watashi no koto wo oboeta, onegai shimasu...Yakusoku?"

I forgot his name though...

I like music that mixes between metal and punk like Thrice. They have hard, fast and aggressive riffs along with emotional and sometimes screaming lyrics.

Here's my top bands
1. Thrice
2. AFI
3. Mudvayne
4. Dream Theater
5. Rush
6. Black Sabbath
7. Rush
8. Poison The Well
9. Finger Eleven
10. Smashing Pumpkins

I dunno about AFI...Old stuff were good as punk songs, but with "Sing The Sorrow", they've almost turned...EMO...

his grammer is better, thats great.

Well, right now, I love basicly all that is electronica. I also have a large fetish for various rock sup-genres. Also punk/ska, its great.
But really, I love all real music (no pop, I dont really think that is real music, well, in the sence they made it.) And I think pure rap/hip-hop or whatever they call it, sucks.

other good hip-hop is jurassic 5, olympic lifts and house of pain - all worth a listen.

my favourite music is anything that i find good. as a general rule i don't like ballads or love songs, but almost anything will go. i do especially love rock and metal music most of the time, though.

Not forgetting Roxanne Shante. I'm not sold on Jurassic 5 at all, their debut was pants (too bland). Just because you include a wind instrument and wear a lumberjack shirt it doesn't necessarily mean you've taken hip-hop forward 5 years.

If I formed a hip-hop band I'd have a triangle player and a theremin, no doubt I'd be on the cover of NME in no time.

classic rock and blues, simply because of the meaning and soul that they hold dear, which is exactly what todays hits do not.

My advice is to start drinking heavily. - John Belushi, Animal House

I stick to no Genre. I find my mind likes to strap blinders on itself (Rap sucks, Techno is shit, etc). So I listen to everything. I will give anything a try, and may even like it. I like bits and pieces of everything. It's neat really. When I ask people "What kind of music are you into?" I actually mean it, instead of being a lamer trying to pick up some chick.
