No radio in Winamp3

When my system was W2K, was never able to get Winamp 3 to play internet radio stations. Had to go back to 2, which did work.

Recently put WXP SP1 on another computer and thought I'd give 3 another try. Still no luck - same problem!

Have associoted pls files with 3, and when I click on a radio station, several addresses from that station appear in the Winamp Plalist window; my modem shows activity as 3 accesses the net. But instead of playing, 3 just cycles thru the stations in the Playlist window -trying one address after another but none play.

What is the problem? Is this common? If so, I couldn't find a reference in the FAQ.

Any advice appreciated

Just noticed riodio's post in this forum. Seems we have the same problem.

I followed Nunzio390's advice and tried to play streaming audio thru Shoutcast, but this produces the same problem. Also went to Radioparadise (a great station!) and tried the "MP3 128k - requires an MP3 Player" test - no help.

I have an ADSL connection thru a modem/router, but this has never presented any problems with streaming audio in other apps (including Winamp2). Firewall is configured to allow Winamp3 web privileges. WXP associates pls files with "winamp3.exe". OK, that's the easy stuff - let the expert advice commence.

OK, searching thru the forums, I noticed a post stating that Winamp and Winamp3 can happily coexist (unlike humans) in the same system, so I installed Winamp2.91 (better choice of icons) changed the pls file association, and Bob's your uncle.

Conclusion, if v 2.91 plays streaming internet audio without any problems while v 3 cannot (at least in my system), then the fault would seem to be with V 3. (Tho, to be honest here, a year or so ago, I did have v 3 playing streaming audio in my system; but since a clean install of W2K and now with WXP on another system, 3 has refused to play pls files.)

Speak, oh oracle!

Anyway, since Winamp 2 is again bringing me streaming audio, the problem is no longer very urgent. But I'm a curious guy.
