Ripper Quality
How does the quality of the winamp ripper for 2.x compare with the one in CDex? I don't rip much using either program because I normally use the ripper in ACID Pro 4.0e. (pro end recording software) i don't have access to that right now and was wondering which free program had the best quality. I need to rip a track off of my demo to present later this week. I'm pretty desperate. It sucks being away from your tools. I'm stuck with an old version of CDex, an old version of MPEG Suite (1.3 has the fastest encoder I've ever used. It's faster than the ACID encoder although lower in quality), and Winamp 2.91. I'm in NYC far from my native southeastern Pennsylvania. My style of music is electronic dance in the vein of European Trance so I need that high information, and the low bass intact. Any help is apreciated!

Winamp 2.92, 2.95, and 5 are NOT official releases and are thus not supported in the forums.
I like CDex with Ogg at 6.5 quality myself. powered by C₈H₁₀N₄O₂ |

EAC is the undisputed champ of ripping. Follow Chris Myden's guide (google it) for the best guide on the internet on making mp3s.
CDex and EAC are the same unless a CD is brutally scratched. CDex is also more user friendly and is my ripper of choice. I rip to oggs at fairly low bit rate (112) They say if you play a Microsoft CD backwards you hear satanic messages. That's nothing, if you play it forwards it installs Windows. |
