Streaming tracks ON the server
Hey guys,
I recently set up a Linux file server for my mp3s. I would like to set up SHOUTcast server to play files in a directory I specift. I attempted to look around the config file, but have yet to see it work. Any suggestions? RS |

One more issue - the thing keeps buffering. I'm running it on my LAN... what's the problem?

What's your CPU load? sc_trans calls lame and reencodes the MP3's. I found this to be too much of a CPU hit and can't use sc_trans. This may explain your problem.
I've been trying holycast but it doesn't pass ID3 info and has bug that doesn't set the bitrate properly. There aren't many options (for some unexplained reason) for streaming MP3's that are already encoded. Some folks have mentioned they've written their own perl scripts which use libshout-perl. Hope this helps, I'm still a newbie but this is essentially what I've been told. -e |

It's a 233MHz K6 with load averages around 2.9x when it runs... I guess that could be the problem.

well that might explain it
![]() I run a server on a dual pIII with a forum that gets 30+ million hits a month. The SC_TRANS process set at a quality of 10 uses roughly 5% cpu utilization. This I can deal with. Chew |
