Help Req.. Plz..

Hey Folks..

I've really just got a question.. I have my station up and running ok, but wanna go a step further..

I have been offered some webspace from a pal of mine.

What i am looking to do is do a live broadcast from my House, using my mixing s/ware and Winamp Shoutcast Source - Soundcard input, then somehow take my live feed from there to the remote server so it can do the hard work for me by broadcasting onto the net for me..

In theory instead of me running everything from my pc inc. the DNAS server and Broadcasting to say 15 listeners, I'd be broadcasting to the 1 (The Server) and it connected to the net would then broadcast to all my listeners..

You'll need remote access, such as shell or telnet or SSH, to install and instantiate the DNAS.

Check out the results from a SHOUTcast forum search on 'telnet ssh'.

Look for a post by clubexplosion titled:
Install shoutcast on host

Note: Other search criteria may yield more results.

Please read some polite advice.

Thanx for the reply m8, it did actually really help..

I am now all sorted..

I got in touch with a gut i have got to know through buying shell accounts off him etc for Other projects i have worked on..

The guy is called Phil Baker and he runs www.lchost.co.uk A Low cost hosting sevice, but dont be put off by the low cost part, his support and prices are second to none..!! You can email him at - phil@lchost.co.uk If you need any help whatsoever..

Anyway, This is what he has set me up with :

A low user package which for me includes -
1/ A DNAS server running on one of his own servers
2/ Approx 10 listeners access
3/ LIVE streaming at up to about 56Kbps Stereo
4/ And for approx 10 Hours per week, but is not gonna complain if i go over and use say 15 or so..

All set up for me within about 1 - 2 hours tops, got a link to give my listeners etc..

Thats £10 per month, i can have unlimited streaming for approx £25 per month.. But totally upgradeable to whatever i want.. i.e 24/7 LIVE streaming @ 128Kbps Stereo..

All i had to do was put the IP address he supplied me with into the shoutcast source plugin and also the password he gave me too, then i just started broadcasting and there i was LIVE on the shoutcast network..!!

This guy is the bogs bollocks and if you are looking for a remote host for just a hobby or for a real station i.e 24/7 128Kbps etc I'd give Phil a shout and he'll work you out a really good price..

If you mention you got his details from me on here you never know he may give you a bit discount ;O)
