It doesn't.

There is a plugin located in this thread but most have not had success in getting it to work, including myself. If you want a program for your iPod, I suggest Ephpod or Xplay.

Download the plugin from that thread I linked you to and unzip the file. Make sure Wianmp is closed and put 'ml_ipod.dll' in your '\Program Files\Winamp\plugins\' folder. Load Winamp and open the Library. An entry for the iPod should appear. Right click and hit 'iPod Configuration', select your iPod's drive letter, click OK. Like I said though, the success rate in people getting it to work isn't very high. :\

done

Don't ask me what to do with it though . . . I don't even have an iPod, lol.
I guess you unzip it to the Plugins dir, not sure if you run the Mkdirs.bat file first or not ?!?! Errm, or do the files go in the "ipod_control" program dir, if one actually already exists? Lord knows, lol

Umm . . . Justin? You there?

[edit] doh! what a foo' I am. ipod-tree fix unzips to formatted ipod [/edit]

The tree you posted is a similar one to what's on the iPod itself. I'm not sure about what to do with the contents of the .zip though. (Yes, tried putting it in my plugins folder and still nothing..) Perhaps some input from Justin would be good.

Hmmm . . . k
maybe it's supposed to actually go on the iPod then?

Try PM'ing Justin or something? Maybe direct him to this thread?

I told him to keep an eye on that other thread, ages ago . . .
but, like me, he's also probably forgotten about it....

Yup, just seeked out an old e-mail:

"Get ipodtree.zip, format your ipod and upload the zip content to it, that fixed the problem here.

Then you can upload your music back to the ipod using winamp/ml."

yah, that quote was directed to me and it does indeed work with the 2.01 ipod software and winamp 5.0beta. I haven't tried it with 2.1 yet because I've been exploring iTunes, but when I have a few hours to kill (not any time soon), I'll try going back and forth between the different programs, unless someone else beats me to it and documents it for us.

[edit]btw, 3g ipod and xp here. dell 8100 laptop[/edit]

I was away for a while.
But I'm feeling much better now.

Happy to see I'M not the only one!!

Thank you for the help.

winamp29x-ipod-tree.zip, is the file structure that does on the ipod, including the control ie the file database (dbf file), device info, device setup.

ephpod, is a mac software that seem complicated to run and need firewire connection, doesnt seem to support usb.

Xplay, I'm currently dowloading the test version, and will give you more detail.

Hi there,
XPlay is a nice tool that uses explorer inteface and add an extra directory to the removable disk (ipod) and built the database as requested by the ipod, you can easily browse by artist, sonts, album, just like in the ipod. All you need to do is drop your music to this folder. It can also synchronise automatically with a directory on the pc.

Still needs to browse files. but it is realy easy and do not need as much power as musicmatch jukebox that comes with the ipod.

keep me in touch if someone find a way to add the ipod to the device tab in he music library. and synchronise directly from winamp.

So . . . the latest version of the ipod plugin in combination with ipod-tree-fix still doesn't work then? Could someone else please confirm?
(note: above, Gonzotek said it works)

Links to both the plugin and ipod-tree fix are in the same post

Sorry, what you sent I dont know exactly what it is for, but is the file structure of the ipod.

I havent found how to make it work before, but reading al the ipod thread i could figure. I simply put the DLL in the zip attached in the plugins directory and it works!! Exactly what I was looking for!

Would be nice to be able to make playlists in the ipod, but this already a big step to send files thru winamp directly to the ipod !!!

My ipod, 15Gb system 2.0.1 (i think it is the 3rd genereation)
