I can play everything else but I cannot play DJ Mixes..I used to be able to play them. All i get is a window that pops up saying "now playing on internet explorer"..then the mix information but the window keeps reloading but no music.. I am able to play everything else. Any suggestions? I've scoured the boards already and have not been able to find a thread...forgive me if this is a repeat question.

Tyron - hearken thee! there IS someone else having the same problem: me! we have something in common: it *was* working-then it stopped.. did it happen right after you installed any kind of new device? or 'round Sep 23rd? (long shot!!!)
for all the lowdown, read (& weep) http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/Forum11/HTML/001949.html please give us a brief rundown on your hardware, browser(s) version, etc.. are you on cable or broadband of some kind? also, if you have your own playlist (not live) under "My mixes" in MyLocker, can you play that ok? please post comments here.. + suggest you register for Winamp forums also, I guess we'd be glad to hear from anyone else who is now experiencing these symptoms.. I think this is a tuffy.. hopefully, we'll stumble onto our common connection and get this thing resolved.. moderator? (--: ------------------ < canuckteach (-:-) > |

We have more in common than just this problem. I read your previous thread and I too have tried all methods...I am also using broad band roadrunner service and most importantly, it is the Jazz mixes I am most in need of..... Win 98...IE5..AMD 500 128mb memory. I thought my problems may have started after a critical windows update from the web..not sure though. I requested info weeks ago from Winamp and they were unable to help....
I can hear mixes I created...I am simply having problem with DJ Mixes.... Tyron |

By the way...I tracked down the date when I first noticed the problem..It was 9/18 and the only thing I can recall installing is a windows update that may have included a modification of Windows Media player but I have checked and rechecked file associations and reinstalled Winamp. I was hoping the subject came up last night in the presidential debates but oh well

right, Tyrone.. presidential candidates also neglected to mention how increased competition for jobs cuts into my earnings and, therefore, the # of jazz CD's I can buy.. this is a major issue, I think.. (--:
it's probably nothing, but this was my last Win98 Update: Security Update, August 25, 2000 (version 5,0,3314,0) was successfully installed. 11:15:02 PM Thursday, September 07, 2000 : 3967 - do you know how to check yours? (go out to WINdows update, let them build a catalogue, then click on installation history..).. but I believe the live lists were still streaming *after* that date (my wife threatened to boot me out for playing Benny and Bunny back-to-back..) right up to that critical 3rd week of September.. this must ring a bell with someone???? anyway: I'd say I'm pretty sure we'll solve this soon.. only I'm not pretty, and I'm not sure.. )--: ------------------ < canuckteach (-:-) > |

It definitely sounds like a Java Engine problem.
What specifically was this Windows / Security Update you installed ? Can you give me a link to the relevant support.microsoft.com page ! I take it you don't get as far as seeing the auto "file download" box ? Therefore I doubt if it's some kind of interference from WMP ?!?! I'm pretty sure I covered everything in canuckteach's thread. I think the key lies in the IE security options -> Java settings ?!?! I've added a new post to that thread too, btw. Let's see what myplay tech support have to say ! Also. did you try the Repair IE option ? |

Interesting development-a few days ago, the DJ playlists started playing again..so what changed? My son felt that we were loading too much stuff at bootup, thus lessening available *system resources* (when Settings-Control Panel System-Performance is checked).
- he used Msconfig.exe to 'turn off' anything he didn't recognize.. or thought we could live without (more Win users should try this sometime--you'd be surprised).. for sure, he removed Realplayer from the systray.. (which puts it on the Toolbar) -we felt all along that the browser's java module was running into a clash between 2 or more media players.. even though Winamp was the default *.m3u player, it wouldn't start the stream.. -so, Comrade, run Msconfig and see what you can dispense with at Startup.. certainly remove any rival Media player from loading.. (you can always load these from a shortcut) - -if, at first, the streaming doesn't function, fiddle with Msconfig, reboot and try again.. (this, by the way, is also the method of isolating annoying messages of unknown origin at bootup) let me know how you make out .. (--: - if this works for you too, we may just have a new solution.. ! anyone else having trouble playing DJ playlists? try the above out, and post results here for us,, willya? tnx (--: ------------------ < canuckteach (-:-) > |

That was one of the first thing I tried as I routinely run msconfig to keep my system nimble. My system is in the same state as it was when I had the problem but today I am able to hear the music (uggh, that is if you call Kenny G "music"..can't wait to finish this note so I can go find some Milt Jackson and lose myself in the Whitecap visualization plug-in) The problem, I suspect, must have been with the stream itself (probably a winamp embargo protesting those boring presidential debates). I was convinced that the problem was not local so I logged on from time to time to see if I could hear the music. Today I hit the jackpot! Thanks, good luck, and may all your days be blessed with wonderful free jazz!

similar issues
I got very excited when i learned of the myplay storage.. and uploaded about 3 live shows before i realized that i could not get the files in my locker to stream either. I use IE 5, on a pc with a pentium III 800, 256 mgs of ram, etc.. I can listen to the shoutcast stations fine, but when i click the green play button in my locker either in my files or the dj mixes, it launches my player and instead of streaming, winamp opens the window as if it wants a file off my hard drive.. and if i click the play button with winamp already open, nothing happens. ive gone to the tech support for myplay.. and they suggest under Windows 2000 that you cant manually configure the MIME type to be audio/x-mpegurl. I did look through the forums and find a utility to make sure winamp was the default player and it said it changed the MIME type. I am going to try and reboot and see if that works, but as it stands I cant use the streams either.
