ID3 Tag editing with winamp 2.65

I have an intermittant problem with
winamp 2.65 tag editor with windows 2000 pro
on a dual PIII 500 machine with plenty of memory it has already deleted 2 of my mp3s
and crashes winamp. this sucks big time
anyone know what I can do to fix this?
I tried uninstalling and re installing
I re- ripped the songs it deleted and it did it again!!!

this happens when I click the save ID3V2 button

Winamp 2.65 did not support ID3v2 tags. Were you using the alpha Mp3 input plugin with your Winamp 2.65, or did you actually mean Winamp 2.666 (which does support ID3v2)?

If you were using Winamp 2.65 with the alpha plugin, you should probably download Winamp 2.666 (available today). Also, remember that you cannot do ID3v2 tag editing while the file is playing.
