After I've been running Winamp for a while, everything in WinME starts to run slowly. Other programs running at the same time include, AIM, Seti@home, Norton SystemWorks, and the Altec Lansing ADA-305 systray client. This problem manifests itself as follows:
menus pop up very slowly clicking on the start button causes it to raise very slowly and jerky I can remedy this problem for a short time by closing out the above programs but sooner or later after doing that, I have to reboot my system. It happens every time I play MP3's. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

How much RAM do you have in your machine? Remember, Windows ME requires AT LEAST 32 megs to run. That means, if you have 32, your machine will be sluggish from the get go. Winamp uses about 5 or 7 megs (not sure exactly). It may be time for a small upgrade.
Hope this helps some!! |

I've got a P3 550mhz with 192 megs of ram. I never had this problem under Win98 SE. It only appeared after upgrading to WinME.
