Internet TV giving trouble, even though it worked before...
I recently uninstalled v.5 and put the last v.2 on, then uninstalled that and went back to 5. The problem is, every time I try to watch TV, it says "Icy <num> <I.P.> Connecting" and nothing happens. No firewalls are active, running on XP with nothing else. DSL. Anyone know what the problem is?

Is this with all TV streams, including the NTV ones?
Can you connect to any of the Internet Radio streams? Winamp 5 -> Prefs (Ctrl+P) -> General Preferences Make sure the correct connection type is selected In your case, this would be "Always connected (LAN, DSL, cable)" Apart from that, you won't be using a proxy connection with DSL, and you say you've got no firewall running, so there's nothing else which can be preventing Winamp from connecting . . . unless something is amiss, hmm... WinXP with a DSL connection and no firewall? That is asking for trouble. Trust me! I recommend you get Zone Alarm (free version) asap. You also have the option to get PestPatrol free with it. I've never used PestPatrol, but I hear it's pretty good at getting rid of spyware/adware/trojans. Personally, I've always used the excellent Spybot Search & Destroy for this. Also make sure you've got all the Critical/Security Updates from Windows Update. Also run a (fully updated) anti-virus scan. Let us know how ya get on. |
