It's important to note that much of the US constitution is obsolete by other laws. "You have the right to free speech, BUT...".

There really is no such thing as free speech, and believe it or not, this is a good thing. Total free speech would mean legally being able to:
1. Yell "FIRE!" in a movie house
2. Falsely advertise information about another company
3. Falsely advertise information about your own products
4. Verbally abuse someone
5. Spam someone
6. Telemarket
7. etc. etc.

Restricting these evils is a violation of pure free speech , yet I am glad these amendments exists. A world of total free speech would be full of liars and deceit.
Amending the constitution is not a bad thing, hell, it was written long enough ago that it needs to be revamped.
