Setting up a complete radio station on Solaris 9
hey folks,
i have been scouring the net to find some sort of information to set up a complete radio station using shoutcast/icecast and my Sun Sparc Ultra 10 running Solaris 9. I've been working on this machine the past 3 weeks, trying to make it work. I've tried installing SuSE Linux on the machine in hopes of getting MuSE, icecast, or shoutcast to work, and i kept getting errors I had no idea what they meant. The only time I've been able to get a streaming server working with this box is with Solaris 9 and shoutcast. I have it working to where it is the server and I can use other machines to connect to it and stream live, but I want to set this machine up to where when it isn't streaming live music, I can have it play mp3's from a set playlist that will be switched once a week. My head is at the point of explosion, so I now turn to all of you for suggestions and advice. Since the option of purchasing another machine to do all this for me is out of the question for now, I want to work with what I have. In fact, I know for a fact that I can do something with this machine, I just need the helping hands of you folks to guide me the rest of the way. I would *really* love to get this SPARC Ultra 10 running linux again, so if any of you have actually gotten linux to run on the SPARC Ultra 10 with shoutcast/icecast, let me know - I would really like to speak with you ![]() I want this thing to start streaming, so help me! ![]() Thanks in advance to everyone's input. |
