w5!!!
been playing around with the new release for the last hour or so.. holy crap this is so sweet!
finally a library that can handle all my songs with getting retarded!!!! (7K+ mp3s) and it can even load all of them in the playlist easily, that used take 20+ minutes. And there is soo much flexibility too in the preferances, i just keep finding features that are just so damn cool. Does anyone know if they ever plan to add a cleaner shoutcast support? like instead of just having one line with station name, station info, song info and other random info all in one line, also some way to not have a seperate line for each mirror. they could almost have a seperate litle window that comes up instead of the playlist editor. |

@Reaper: Yeah, I've got iTouch installed, but they've apparently released a new version since I posted that. Hopefully that'll fix it.
[offtopic]Small world, eh cher?[/offtopic] @Lunas: Thanks, hopefully the latest will work here too. |

OK, after installing the latest iTouch and an updated players.ini file which they say should work, it still does nothing. The other odd thing is that the old style key combinations don't work either (i.e. X, C, V, B). Could this be related to the new Global hotkeys plugin in RC8?

Found out that when WMP comes up the WA hotkeys don't function anymore until WMP is closed.
In the past with another plugin I could pause both players at the same time. My sister likes to watch movies on WMP and when she press the pause key Winamp comes up with music, pause again movie continues music pause. Thanx |

the main player part of winamp still dissappears sometimes most likely in a transition from a version 3 skin to a version 2 skin probably occuring while winamp is in the background

MP3cue 0.94 plugin & Winamp 5
It's an old (2001) plugin but it's one of the best.
It works with the Classic skins fine, but don't with the Modern skins ... So: is there any workaround to solve this ? Or somebody have to rewrite this fine proggy ??? Thanx |

i doubt that. there weren't any updates for encspot and mp3cue for more than a year. www.guerillasoft.com doesn't exist anymore either.

Neofite, read this entire thread. I know that somewhere in here there is a link for a winamp plugin., Also, be sure to read all the stickies that say "READ THIS FIRST", they generally answer all those questions.
Also read the FAQ's, I am pretty sure thats one of them. [edit] I don't mean to be harsh. Try Searching the forums Why make something idiot proof?? Someone will only make a better idiot! |

With Modern Skins the buttons "Play" etc don't work, when Winamp is on top. When I minimize Winamp to the Systray, then the buttons also work with modern skins. I hope Logitech will fix this issue after WA 5 Final release. |

Yesterday I have tried to send an email to dee's address (which was on the mentioned webpage): <dee@guerillasoft.com>: Sorry, I couldn't find a mail exchanger or IP address. BUT!!! There's a guy called Brian Fernandes who have wrote an mp3cue proggy for xmms (on Linux)... He wrote on his homepage that dee had helped him very much ... And he almost have finished his mediaCue plugin for Winamp3 !!! And that time I have wrote a letter to him that winamp5 is on the corner ... Perhaps, if You guys write him an email too, maybe he will backport his plugin to winamp5 !!! his webpage: http://brianvictor.***********/mp3cue.htm Ohhhh !!! I have just found this mediacue page too: http://brianvictor.***********/mediacue.htm It's quite impressive ! I have just downloaded so I didn't know if it works with winamp5 ... And it can split mp3 files too !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Greetings Last edited by chros; 28th November 2003 at 10:38. |

No, it's a Winamp3 WAC component, not a Winamp (2.x / 5.x) plugin.
Alas, Winamp doesn't support WAC components. I've also e-mailed Brian, and have explained the current situation. Hopefully, he won't be too depressed (after finding out that Winamp3 and WAC components will no longer be supported). |

So why is WASABI considered dead? What was wrong with the platform, and why is Winamp5 built upon Winamp2?
I do love Winamp5, it's the best Winamp yet, but I'm just curious as to why it's based on Winamp2 instead of 3.... ![]() Shayne |

Wasabi isn't dead. I think its just on the back burner for a bit. It will still be developed, but not right now.
Some one please correct me if I am wrong. Why make something idiot proof?? Someone will only make a better idiot! |

because people just didn't like Winamp3 as much as WA2, I'm guessing - it didn't do anything better or more than WA2, and yet performance was pretty shocking, while WA2 was useable on an old P90... the basic appeal of Winamp is that it is/was a fast and light music player that's free of bloat and doesn't bog your system down. WA3 used up a lot more resources than WA2 for no discernable reason.
it's 6am and I'm eitehr repeating myself or not making sense, so I'm going to bed

This was the very first build called Wasabi Player, so do not expect much, it's a very much work-in-progress application. As you can see it's still build 499 (which was a winamp3 build) only it's 499c now, so don't expect much more than is offered in Winamp3 499. The current state of Wasabi Player is that it's still beeing transformed from Winamp3 to Wasabi Player, stuff are beeing renamed and so on... -Plague |

OK, Does any one out there have one of the new mice with a tilt Wheel in it?
Cause I noticed that in the ML If I click on the horizontal scroll bar the tilt wheel will scroll a bit and then stop. then I have to click on it again. Has any on else seen this? I know where bug reports go... But I know that the tilt wheel support is not yet(as in I hope it is soon) a feature of winamp. Why make something idiot proof?? So the latest release has a good global hotkeys plugin? That's great to hear. I can see how that would be quite useful.
Do Winamp 5's plugins work with Winamp 2? I wouldn't mind using that plugin while I wait for Winamp 5's final release. Or is there a better Winamp 2 plugin out there that does that? I've been skeptic about Winamp 5 because I'm on a low resource machine right now, but it sounds like it's coming along nicely and not as "heavy" as Winamp 3 is. Keep it up. |

If you don't install Modern skin support and the ML, it IS Winamp 2. After final is released there should be no reason to keep Winamp 2.X around. In fact it will not be supported. Try downloading Winamp 5.0 RC8 Lite.
To answer your question though, the plug-in used in Winamp 5.0 probably wouldn't work with older 2.X versions since it makes use of recent API additions. Maybe in the 2.9X series, defiantly not before. But you should upgrade to 5.0 anyways. |

You're right. I just downloaded and installed Winamp 5 RC8 (full install) and it uses just about the same amount of memory as Winamp 2.9x so long as it's set to the classic skin.
Since my Winamp 2 plugins still work with it and I haven't run into any problems (yet), I'll probably just go ahead and switch for good now. |

Would it be possible to add Winamp to the windows "Set Programs Access & Defaults" menu under Media Players?

Latest internal RC still hasn't fixed the minimize, close, restart Winamp bug. Is anyone actually gonna do something about this?
