bandwidth problems
hi, I recently got my radio station working...
a problem I have been running into, is when I get more than 5 or so users, it starts to get a bit laggy and ends up buffering, my music is running on 24kbps encoder, and my voice is running on 44100hz stereo... My computer is running cable (T1 connection) and it goes through a linksys router that I have enabled the ports on, everything is running good, its just lagging when I get over 5-8 users.. any ideas? or any tips on how to check what the problem could be? I only have mIRC and MSN running in the background btw. |

Shouldn't Do that. Are your system specs good. Very low system specs can cause sum problems.

Check your bandwidth.
Check out the Sticky post titled: SHOUTcast: Important Info & Answers to FAQs. READ ME! Scroll down a bit and look for the section titled: 1. DNAS Stuff -> Bandwidth -> DSLReports Bandwidth tester(Only be concerned with the UPLOAD bandwidth) 2. DNAS Stuff -> Bandwidth -> CasterClub's Listener Calculator 3. DNAS Stuff -> Bandwidth -> CasterClub's Bandwidth Calculator Use 1 to find your upload. Use 2 to determine the number of listeners you can support at your selected streaming bitrate. Additionally, your listeners download needs to exceed your streaming bitrate. Jay (KXRM) also has a Bandwidth Calculator. |
