i need help!
I need some help, hopefully some of you can help me. I tried over and over to connect with this router, getting the ip from one of those ip address sites, and I just try connecting, and on the Server Moniter, it seems like it aint picking up the ip address number I put down from the Ip address site. Grr, I sometimes hate this router, but I dunno what to do. Can anyone help me? Please Post back ASAP!!!!

If the server and source are on the same machine, put localhost into the address box in the SHOUTcast Source (WinAmp).

Two (or less) easy steps:
1. If you have a firewall, open the necessary port(s). 2. If you have a router, configure it to forward the necessary port(s) to the DNAS machine. Check out the Sticky post titled: SHOUTcast: Important Info & Answers to FAQs. READ ME! Scroll down a bit and look for the section titled: DNAS Stuff -> Errors -> Fixing [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (Cannot see your station/computer (IP: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxx) from the Internet, disable NAT/firewall/ISP cache (Connection timed out) Are the necessary ports open in your firewall and are they being forwarded to the DNAS machine? Check out http://www.radiotoolbox.com/cantheygetin and see if the reported information there helps. Please read some polite advice. |

As Fester pointed out, you will need to forward ports in your router. With a LinkSys:
(FIRST, go to the start menu, run..., enter "command". In there, enter "ipconfig".. copy down the entry after "IP Address......") Go into your internet browser and enter "192.168.1.1" (without quotes). Leave the username part empty and in the pass, put "admin". On the top right, hit "advanced". On top, click "forwarding". Enter the following: Under Ext. Port: 8000 to 8001 Check the TCP box Enter the last three numbers of your IP address Check enable. Save the settings. -- Michael |
