Look at this error i get everytime i try to uninstall or install a new winamp.

If you use a 3rd party download accelerator/manager, disable it a try download Winamp again. Make sure Winamp is not running then you reinstall/uninstall.

Check for spy/adware. Download and run SpyBot Search & Destroy. Also to be on the safe side run your virus scanner.

No luck? Some system specs please…
Windows Version?
Memory?
CPU & Speed?
DirectX version? (Start button > Run... > type DXDIAG > click OK > System tag)
Soundcard?
Are you on a user account?
Current Winamp version?
What version of Winamp are you trying to install?
Did you have any third party Winamp plug-ins?

Downloaded that search and destroy, used it and yea there was some spyware and shit so i repaired it and still the same thing happend. I dont think virus scanning will help but im scanning now. it happens even when i tried uninstalling my old winamp.

PC Specs:
Windows XP
Amd XP 2600+
512 ddr 400 mem
onboard 6 channel digital sound (asus a78nx Del)
DirectX 9.0b
I was trying to instyall the latest version that .666 one
and i am the admin on my computer.

After running SS&D did you close down Windows and reboot the computer? Any results on the virus scan?

Okay, there's 2 references to this error message on the entire forums,
and these both relate to some weird NSIS installer error under WinNT

Now the most probable reason why you've not had a reply from anyone yet is because you've not really given us much to go on. As outlined in the sticky threads at the top of this forum, to create a proper bug report we need to know the following:

System specs:
pc or motherboard make/model, cpu/ram, sound/graphics cards, windows os

Windows OS would be a great help for starters.

We also need exact steps to reproduce the problem.

What version # of Winamp is currently installed?
Is it fully closed before you try to uninstall/install?
(including systray agent, if enabled)
Which version # are you trying to install?

Where is your TEMP folder located? eg.
C:\Windows\Temp
C:\WinNT\TEMP
C:\Documents & Settings\[username]\Local Settings\TEMP

Plus any other information you can provide to help us help you...

hmm, could've done with seeing a startup log prior to spybot s+d fix.
What Anti-Virus software are you using? Is it up-to-date with latest definitions?

Couple thoughts or guesses based on the temp folders stuff.

Do you have a utility that regularly monitors and cleans temp files/folders? If so temporarily disable it and try installing Winamp.

Although this may not be very likely, I am wondering if the temp folder somehow got set to read only....
1. Right click on the current temp folder
2. select Properties
3. General tab
4. make sure Read-only is unchecked
5. OK button

Fixed it all you have to do is make a temp user or use a current one make them admin login and install it on there then login back on your own and done
