potato the sound card would be fine.. i had sblive platinum 5.1 its the same chipset as the live value emu10k1 it works perfectly.. sound quality is good.
i upgraded my pc now have an abit nf7-s mobo with xp2600+ and nvidia 5700ultra and all of it works fine again.. (infact i pulled my drive from the old comp and plugged it into here and it booted up fine with a few warnings, mainly drives missing, but weh hey it booted and allowed me to sort it out) the modem.. if its an internal (probably a winmodem) save yourself the hassle and throw it out and buy a cheap external job you can pick them up for less than 50 quid (infact about 20 nowadays) and use that saves you agro and hassle. other than that your system will be running fine.. make sure to use the nvidia graphics card drivers from their site excellent drivers ive got the beta and it even has nview. (the nvidia 4620 driver its beta google for it and you can install it ) i would also suggest fedora, which is basically redhat 10 doesnt cost you anything and its a fully featured distro http://fedora.redhat.com/ http://fedora.redhat.com/download/ enjoy |
