first of all, if you have to take a website entirely down to update it (even a mass update) then you're not a good webmaster.
second of all, those of you that are using winamp release candidates are using winamp 5 already. version numbers don't matter - if there aren't any bugs giving you grief now, then there won't be any upon the official release, so what's the difference? there are bigger things to worry about in this world.
@alltaken: why not use pre-release software? if nullsoft relabelled a current release candidate of winamp the final version without actually changing anything in the program, would you suddenly feel better? does it make a difference? i think your purist instinct is misplaced here. demand clean food and angels for day-care providers before you demand a point-oh peice of software. it doesn't matter what the label says the version number is, it matters how the software performs.
