Winamp Pro? Have the Nullsoft Team sold out?

So what has happened here? I remember when version 2.5 came out and there was much rejoicing about Winamp being totally free and against things like advertising and big evil corporations!! Well I suppose Nullsoft really sold out when they allowed themselves to be purchased by AOL but still I find this to be an even bigger blow to their credibility. Anyway I think everyone here deserves to know that there are better rippers and encoders than Winamp Pro will ever be available for free such as:

EAC (ripper)
CDex (ripper)
LAME (mp3 encoder)
Psytel (AAC encoder)
and FAAC (AAC encoder)

Hmmm, I see that makes sense. However, why don't they simply NOT OFFER THOSE THINGS THEN, on the basis that better ones can be had for free??

In any case they'll have to include alot more than CD ripping and burning (both of which I already have software for) before I decide to buy Winamp 5.0 Pro. I think AOL had more do to with this than the Nullsoft team.

Well how about 2 voices against paying for 5.0 pro. If someone wants and encoder or burner or ripper, go get a different free program. I like Winamp and might make a donation but comon, paying for Winamp5, when you can get the same stuff on the internet for free? Maybe Winamp should just dump the shit that has to be liscenesed and work on other stuff, that doesn't have to put a price tag on it

I agree entirely, if Nullsoft doesn't have what it takes to do the job right (ie: program their own software) then they shouldn't bother trying. Thats just my opinion, of course.

Is this not the most evil and vile thing you have ever seen? Every time I go to Winamp.com I get visually assulted by these advertisments and it is really starting to get to me. Anyone else feel the same way??

edit: ok so I can't get the ad to show up. However, I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about images of a marriage between Visa and Starbucks ewwwww!!! I would perfer pictures of my grandparents f*cking over THAT any day!

nobody is making you pay for shit. If you don't want to pay for pro, and if you don't want those extra features, more power to yuo. If you don't wat to pay, but wnat those feautures, use those "far superior" programs in the first post. Otherwise quite your bitchin and get in the kitchen and bake me a cheery pie you fuckwits.
