Sound speeds up

I have a weird problem with Winamp 5. It worked fine for a while, but now it plays audio files at higher speed than usual and the pitch is also distorted. How can I fix this?

Sorry if this has already been asked.

Could one or more of the following...

- Do you have DSP/Effect plug-ins? Try disabling the plug-in
1. Ctrl+P (for preferences)
2. Plug-ins > DSP/Effect
3. highlight/select '(none)'

- Try switch between the DirectSound and waveOut plug-in
1. Ctrl+P (for preferences)
2. Plug-ins > Output
3. select 'DirectSound' or 'waveOut'

Note: Usually DirectSound is suggested for WinXP or Win2000 and waveOut for Win 9x, ME or NT4

- Try updating the sound drivers. If you have a soundcard go to the manufacturer's web site for updates. If you have an onboard sound chip, go to the web site of your computer provider or the mother board manufacturer.
