Winamp 2 plugins? Where?
Believe me, I'm all up for change, but this move Nullsoft made makes me angry.
Why? Well because i'm a fond user of Winamp 2. It always worked fine. I enjoyed the flexibility of plugin support, and life was happy... I wanted to get a new plugin just a minute ago, then I come to a huge announcement for winamp 5, and also advertisements for buying the pro version of it... This is just fine any everything, but some of us want the old plugins and stuff supporting the Winamp 2 shell. Now, if I am wrong and all of the plugins already support Winamp 2, then I am happy. But this just makes me mad that a decent company moves their product into the commercial spotlight, and doesn't give support or options for their old products... you can guarantee that I am not gunna download winamp 5. winamp 2 already does everything I need, and does all of the features for free that you'd need to pay for. |

Winamp 5.0 is an update to Winamp 2.0. it supports Winamp 2.X plug-ins and skins. Winamp 2.X is therefore no longer supported or available.
Winamp is still FREE. Everything you can do in Winamp 2.91 is available in 5.0. Winamp Pro is only extra features that cost Nullsoft licensing per-download like the CD Ripping and Burning engine, the MP3 Encoder and so on. If you do not want the extra features that added in Winamp 5.0, you have the option to just not install them. If you don't install them Winamp 5.0 is just another maintenance release of Winamp 2.X. Therefore, Winamp 2.X is still supported, as Winamp 5.0. http://www.winamp.com/plugins/ |

so, are you saying that if I copy all of my plugins that do the same things as the premium options, I can use the free version with the pro benefits without paying?

*sry couldnt edit my post*
and also, is winamp 2.91 compatible with all of the new plugins available on the plugins page, or do you need winamp 5 to be compatible? |

1. Yup
2. Most should be. But there were a bunch of API additions in 5.0, so newer plugins might not be fully compatible with older versions. |
