ok, something got messed with your filetype associations. this guide shows you what the proper settings for an *.m3u file would be. This guide is written for Win98.

Go to a folder.
Click on view, folder options, then click on the file types tab
scroll down until you see 'Winamp Playlist File'
click on it, and hit edit.

there will be several commands you can edit that are normally accessible through the right-click interface.

Content Type (MIME): audio/mpegurl
Default Extension for Content Type: *.m3u

Enqueue in Winamp
