uhm.. DSP not updating?
Ok.. i DJ at www.livehardrock.com and uhm.. we have a biggie here.. our loop hostess have a problem with her DSP, and we can't fix it ourselves so with her permission i copy+paste her post from our dj forum here, since she doesn't have enough time to do it herself..
*OK cuz I know a few have tried to help figure out what could have happened... I thought I would just post everything I've already tried to do to correct this prob. That way if I have missed something.. you'll all know what I already did...LOL First let me say I'm a pro now at installing this shit..LOLOL OK OK first I uninstalled DSP, Sq-soft crossfader, and Winamp. I went back to program folder made sure all was gone, and if nessicary deleted anything left behind. Removed any and all shortcuts, and ran Norton WinDoc to make sure it found no errors. Then I reinstalled starting first with Winamp 2.81 being that's the one I've always used, and the Older DSP 1.8.0... still had the prob of title updates.. so back to fully removing everything, reinstalling and trying newer DSP 1.8.2b.. same shit. OK then I get Winap 2.91 from viper. So I started all over with it, tried both DSPs same prob, Then after Fez esplained that the new Winamp 5 works with both types of plug ins for 2x and 3.. I tried it. Mind you I did all the same steps.. uninstall, delete anything left behind and ran norton windoc before any new install. hell I even went so far as to reboot each time. Some of the DSP\Winamp combos would work for about 10minutes.. then fail, others didn't even send the info to DSP at all, and None sent the info out from the DSP. And the last time I tried the Newer DSP I couldn't get it to connect. So right now I got the best combo going that well atleast connects to feed, and it is updating from winamp to DSP, but for some reason the information isn't getting any further then that. My router settings have even been checked to allow the right port to be open for LHR feed. OK before you ask... XP's firewall is OFF, Router firewall has been bypass on this puter, and I have black ice on cautious.. but I did go so far as to try killing it and didn't make a bit of difference. Right now I am running Winamp5 and DSP 1.8.0 and the crossfader that I've always used. I have also checked in the registry to make sure that is the winamp recognize there, and I give up. All was working fine, I can't think of anything I Dled or any settings that were changed before this prob came about. So umm after having said all that.. if anyone else has any other ideas that I haven't already tried, hell I'm game for anything at this point. LOL In the meantime I'll just continue where I'm at, and run maintence stuff.. and who knows maybe something will correct itself, the same way it undid itself? Luvs to you all... and thanks to all of you that have tried to help!!!* i hooked her up with winamp5 and it doesn't matter what version of the DSP she use.. titles just won't update, nomatter what we try.. i had her testing on my own server, and stuff went great.. titles updated, but as soon as she came back to streaming on the main feed it went back to beeing stuck.. (when somebody pass it to her title displayed is the one last played by the other dj. Somebody please help us? *sits in corner and almost cries*

Is her Winamp/DSP combo in Winamp or soundcard input mode?
Are the DNASs srcIP and/or destIP variables different from "ANY" (sans quotes)? Do the titles start back up when a different dj connects? Are title updates enabled (output tab -> yellowpages button)? |

ok just PM'ed with her...
"[uhoh] you here... OK first one.. Soundcard mode.. tiz the only way you have Mic [uhoh] and in all actuality that don't apply to this DSP.. it doesn't have such a setting..LOLOL [uhoh] DNASs srcIP and/or destIP variable? I have no idea what he is asking.. or what that means [uhoh] Yes the Title updates are enabled on auto... I also tried to Update them manual.. and toggle the auto on and off.. nothing helped [uhoh] Mikey might know the answer to that Dnas thing...." i have PM'ed Mikey to ask if he knew it.. *waiting patiently* and uhm.. the title updates as soon as one of the other dj's get back on the feed.. [EDIT] ok thatd be the Server file? well, we're hosted remotely, and the person who handle contact with them is at work, but we doubt that it has been changed.. this isn't a new problem.. just annoying since we just got on iTunes and well, a loop not updating titles is't a very good thing.. Thanks in advance for the help man

Since she's in soundcard input mode, she'll either need to:
1: Update the titles manually via http://IP:PORT/admin.cgi?pass=PASSWORD&mode=updinfo&song=INFO 2: Try MP3Toolbox |

All the other DJs are also using the Soundcard imput, but we do not have a problem with the titles updating.

Bot updated thanks to Tom.
2: You should just be able to enter the info in the DSP. Make sure "Auto" is unchecked for both Title and URL though. reference thread |

OK, well I signed up for the board finally... but thank you so much Fez for pasting my prob here.
OK as for the solutions? Yes I am in soundcard mode, all that has be checked and rechecked, I've Dj'd like this for almost a year now, and never had this problem before, that's one reason none of this makes sense. I have tried to manually update the titles, it doesn't go. The information IS getting from Winamp to the DSP.. I can see the titles automatically change on the DSP just as the songs change. The problem seems to be that it's not getting that information past the DSP.. to the server or others listening. |

Hey H, Mike, Fez...
Yeah we are having the same problem. I have tried every possible combination of different versions of shoutcast and winamp and NADA! Just all of a sudden one day stopped updating. I have connected to various other test servers and they update fine, but the primary one we broadcast thru won't update. *instert head scratching emoticon here* I am stumped. Whiskeys_Quiker |

I thought of something... perhaps... lol
How about contacting our hosts? -maybe they know what is up with it.. or make them check their server software... maybe the settings have been changed (by accident or something) or maybe the software isn't the new one.. allthough i doubt that as a possibility.. Weell i might be off the track, but it's a possibility? keep rockin' \m/ ( > _ < ) \m/ |

You couyld try some sort of limiter plug in for winamp e.g. http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=95214 i have not tried it it's just the first thing in the list when you type limiter in the search box

that problem have been solved as well LOL what a great day!
the thing with the volume thing.. when broadcasting there are not one, but two volume controllers active, Winamp and the DSP. winamp is the dominating one, so by turning the the music volume in the DSP to match it with winamp solves my problem. -FeZtAr |

If you're just playing MP3s, it may be advantageous to normalize them with MP3Gain.
