Media Library - buggy?
Well this is a problem I'm facing right since the ML was introduced. It seems that the sorting of the track albums is perfectly done the first time I add media to the library. But if for some reasons I want to update the library and so delete the previous items from the ML, the new ML I get does not show their correct music albums. Instead it displays the common folder in which they've been stored as the album for ALL the files... what is the problem here? (I'm a discography freak and the ID3 tags of my each and every song are perfectly labelled.)
Just any insight is welcome if this is not a bug. |

No ideas??
By the way, my conviction of a bug is only getting stronger... I tried removing the old ML folder so that WA asks me to create another Library. And what do I find? Absolutely NO artist's album is sorted out this time - instead the folder in which those files are stored is being passed as the album! Evidently ML is ignoring the 'album' field in the ID3 tag. Please verify this for yourselves, or suggest me something if I'm still going wrong anywhere... Thanks in advance. |

Cannot reproduce in Winamp 5.01
5.01 changelog: * made media library guess from filename only when NO metadata found * fixed gen_ml guessing bugs for files with metadata that are not in DB * added gen_ml option for no guessing at all Winamp only guesses if there are no ID3 tags and yes, it will assume the containing dir is the album name, but again, only if there are no tags. If the artist, title, album tags etc are present, then it definitely uses these. This was bugging a lot of people in v5.0 (including me), where the artist & title tags were present, but the album tag wasn't, and the ml was auto assuming the containing dir to be album name. But that is no more. |

Thanks a lot DJ Egg for your support, but for me the problem still persists. Could there be some problem with the way I remove the items from the library? Well, the only way I know how to do that is to remove the individual song entries so that when it is refreshed even the artist's name is removed from there... Any other way?
I always use these few plugins and no other, which to me appear to be in no way related to the ML: Enhancer DSP/Effects, Tara Real Audio Plugin and the MP3Pro plugin. |

Thanks a ton DJ Egg! Oh yeah, so it's the MP3Pro plugin that's buggy. I think all that it served me was for low quality streaming radio, which I can dispense with. Thanks for enlightening me already, but one more question: so the in_mp3 plugin is responsible for reading the ID3 tag too?
