wavs don't work!

all of a sudden wavs aren't working on my winamp (2.76). They worked fine before. Is there a common cause of this? mp3s and everything else works.
Is there a plug-in to enable wavs?

What did you install recently that has borked your WAV files in Winamp? These things just don't "suddenly" happen. Did you install a 3rd-party plugin? Did you inadvertantly reassign .wav file-type association to another player instead of Winamp?

Also, why in heaven's name are you using such an old version (v2.76)? One that doesn't even have video support? Usually, if anybody posts with a problem with Winamp v2.xx we always tell them to upgrade to Winamp v5.xx. But I'll "try" to remember that old version's preferences settings...

I "think" it's CTRL+P for preferences > Setup > File Types > Preferred Media

Make sure that WAV files are selected (highlighted) under "Preferred Media" - or was it "Associated file extensions" in that ancient Winamp version?

But in Winamp 5.01 (yes - I suggest you upgrade), it's CTRL+P for preferences > General Preferences > File Types > Associated file types

Make sure that WAV files are selected (highlighted).

But I still suggest that you upgrade your old version to Winamp 5.01 FULL (4.03 MB download)

why 2.xx ? & file type bugs

I think the main reason that ppl ask questions about version 2.xx is those versions are very poor quality.But in the other hand, those versions are more compatible and can be opened easily with operating systems and ppl morely prefer to use an older version.I think this is very normal when we consider the many winamp aplications and new versions can cause many problems.Whenever i download a new winamp version , i see a mega and huge bug report and fixing file.They say "in this version we made ;
1)this
2)this..
3)this still sucks
4)we couldn't solve this cause it's boring
5)we fixed it cause i go out with a girl tonight and i feel damn good
6)this has been fixed by me i'm the best
7)this has been fixed either but cant promise it'll not reveal any problem in the future
8)this line is only for space filling

Now tell me, why can't we ppl play or corruptly play many file types including Audio CD files ?
I already downloaded and used the winamp3 version also.It was doing the same.
What is the difference of this new version?
I'm very afraid of to download that .What if this will make everything worst?
that's why we ppl use those "2.xx"
versions and still hate real player and quick time bullshits.
