Strange DirectSound Bug
I have an Audigy sound card, as well as a sound chip/device thingy by NVidia on my motherboard (It's an NForce2). I have my Audigy set to my default sound device, since it's better than the NVidia thing on my mobo. However, I have my headphones hooked up to my motherboard sound output, so I changed my Winamp 5's DirectSound output to the NVidia (headphones). This doesn't work. No sound in my headphones. It comes out my Audigy for some reason.
Before you start asking, yes, the NVidia chip IS activated and IS working, as Microsoft's WMP works with it fine. If I set my NVidia chip as the default sound device in my Windows Control Panel, everything works fine. I can tell Winamp to play through the Primary driver as well as telling it the NForce and both work as expected. Specs: Windows XP SP1 Athlon XP 2800+ 1024 MB RAM SoundBlaster Audigy MSI K7N2 NForce2 Motherboard (with built in sound output device and drivers) Lasted drivers for everything Hope this helps! Well, two things.
One, the strangest thing is that the sound is actually coming out the WRONG output. It isn't a deal where it just doesn't come out, that would be a familiar problem. But I set it to the motherboard sound and it comes out the Audigy. Two, the hardware acceleration checkbox is greyed out. I can't check it. Any ideas? I reinstalled my motherboard drivers just in case, no dice. Let me know if you think this is on my end or yours, too. Scott |
