Cannot connect over lan
Hey,
Just setup shoutcast on my debian (woody) box for use as a streaming server on lan only. The lan is behind a DSL router using the 10.0.0.0 range of ip adresses (.1 being the router, 2 my desktop and 3 the debian machine), now when i am streaming successfully from my fileserver (.6) to the shoutcast stream using DSP w/ winamp full 2.91 clients can connect from the internet once port 8000 is opened, however using a dns name, or the lan ip of the shoutcast machine i am unable to connect to the server, ive double and triple checked everything, however winamp on my desktop (5.01) just sits there saying connection timed out. I know its not my desktop machines winamp, as it can connect to my server 2003's asx stream, and to external shoutcast streams. Does anyone know if this is a bug/config issue/know how to fix? Thanks in advance. |

Does your router support local loopback?

just tried going directly through a switch and bypassing the router..same problem, communication is not the issue as i can ssh to the machine as well as use the shoutcast administrative interface via the web

********* Please confirm: From lan machines, you can only connect/listen via a lan ip. |

where common sense prevails yes, considering im behind a router.
I cannot connect/listen to the stream from anywhere on the lan, however clients on the internet can connect and listen fine. |

That's due to the fact that your router most likely doesn't support local loopback. All this means is that if you're inside the LAN, you'll have to use the LAN IP to connect.

linux server which manages my network? wtf..
I have a dsl router as my gateway. i have a fileserver with mp3's uploading/streaming to a debian machine running shoutcast. I cannot connect to the stream over lan through a standard 16 port 100mbit switch yet people on the internet can fine. |
