How do Mozilla users download skins?

I tried to download this skin and instead of getting a window asking me what I'm supposed to do with the file, I got a screen full of gobbledygook.

BTW, don't just say use IE, Nullsoft is an AOL company, not a Microsoft company. IE is a Microsoft product, whilst Mozilla is based on Netscape, which is an AOL product!

So there!!

{EDIT}

This might be a problem with Classic skins, as this happenned with another Classic skin (an unofficial Matrix skin) while Modern seem to download OK.

Mozilla 1.5 suite

Save link target doesn't get the full URL of the skin

Copy link location and pasting does, but the only I can see of getting a filename or URL into Winamp is by Playing it, which doesn't work.

And the 'Get more skins' option just opens another tab in Mozilla with the Skins page (which could do with a Search function IMHO as well as remembering that you're only searching for Modern skins when you go to the next page instead of switching back to Modern & Classic)

So I'm still totally stuck...

Thanks bored - that works, although you have to rename the file too, (Mozilla keeps wanting to save it as details.php and keeps listing the file type as 'Text document', don't know what's going on there... :S )

The problem is that the MIME-type is set incorrectly on the web server as "text/plain", so that's what Mozilla displays the skin file as. File -> Save As should save the skin when you see that goobedlygook text.

This is very true! The webmaster can maybe correct this glitch?

The same problem occurs at almost all sites downloading RAR-files. I just hoped Mozilla/Firebird could detect these false text-files.

Actualy, netscape has no problems with downloads from any website... ..bar some .rars from older sites, but you just use the old "Save Link Target as" trick.

Yes, the webmaster should set right MIME-type, but since browsers like IE just use the file extension rather than MIME-type, many webmasters neglect this.

Mozilla Firebird is planning to develop a future technique to detect false text/plain MIME-types by analyzing the unique header-bits of the file.

There Are 2 Options:

1. Get A Download Manager (I Use FlashGet).
2. Copy And Paste The Link Into Internet Explorer (Or An Alternative Program).
