Lossless broadcast?
Hey there. last time I used shoutcast it couldn't do lossless broadcast (I don't think). Anyway I'm having a party tomorrow, and I want to broadcast to my amp over a WLAN, but I really hate the idea of transcoding. Is there anyway to broadcast losslessly? I know the network can handle CDA bitrates so it's technically possible.
Thanks -Rob |

The SHOUTcast DSP encodes no matter the target bitrate.
You should be fine broadcasting a 256kbps or 320kbps stream through your lan as long as the sources as encoded at or above the target bitrate. |

My sources are either 0.5 ogg (some gt3b1) or various --alt-preset's. The point is I don't want any more quality loss on my broadcasts. Else I'll read them from the target machine over SAMBA but I don't like that idea. Any oher ideas? Different plugins altogether?

For ogg brodcasting, check out Icecast.

But doesn't that also re-encode? I just want to pump wavs across my network heh. There must be a way?

I recall a Winamp2.x lan sync plugin, but a few searches were fruitless.
