can't d/l w.5!

I have a question here that I haven't found yet in any forum concerning the new winamp 5? I had w.2.91 on my desktop, which I really liked, btw...and then got the link to d/l w.5 ~ then I keep getting an error which says ~ "Installer interrupted or incomplete. This could be the result of a failed download or corruption from a virus. If desperate try the /NCRC command line switch (NOT recommended)."
I have no idea what that means...I had the w.2.91, like I said, but I made the mistake of un-installing it so I could get the newest winamp 5, and I got the error.
So I came to the forums here, and found this link ~ http://www.1001winampskins.com/download_winamp.html .
It did the job fine, but it took over 1/2 hour to d/l!!
Now, I just need to know one thing...(to shorten this already lo-ong story)I have w.5 on my laptop, w/o a problem (Windows XP); why won't it work on my desktop (Windows 2000)? I am not that literate w/ computer-ese, and do not know why this should matter...

Run a virus scanner.
Try redownloading without using any Download Manager program.
