One artist who everyone should listen to!
Post here the 3 artists you think everyone should listen to at least one in their life.
The only rules are: 1) You're only allowed to post three artists. 2) They have to be artists you truly love to listen to, however they don't have to be your favorite artists! 3) They have to be groups/artists that people may not have heard before. 4) You have to post the genre along with the name of the artist. It's a hard decision and my choices would probably be.... Akufen (Truly amazing house music) Ugly Duckling (Witty and funky old skool hip-hop) Four Tet (Beautiful ambient chillout music) I'd also have tool in there but they're fairly main-stream. |

I'll be patriotic:
1. Mustasch (swedish hard rock, like Danzig/The Cult, check out "Black City" or "Down in black") 2. The Knife (swedish synth pop, check out "Heartbeats") 3. Soundtrack Of Our Lives (amazing swedish rock band, pick any track) Fire up Kazaa! |

Pink Floyd

Synergy
Johann Sebastian Bach
This covers epic artists/composers of rock, electronica and classical, respectively. Many great modern orchestras/conductors have performed work by that last one, but I can recommend my favorite: Il Giardino Armonico/Giovanni Antonini. I'm a psychosomatic sister running around without a leash. |

Deftones aren't metal. If you think they are good metal, you aren't looking very hard.
1. Tha Tragically Hip (A mix of Blues, Country and Rock) 2. Nightwish (Opera Metal I guess you would call it?) 3. The Tea Party (Modern Psychadelic Rock, sounds much like The Doors) |

Uuuups...I missed "rule 3". Oh well. Wouldn't be the first time I flaunted a rule.

Heh, someone else has heard of Nightwish? They are annoying but addicting. At least in Elvenpath.
1. Poe (Alt Rock) 2. Sevendust (Rock/Metal) I'm not sure which category they fit in, but the vocals are amazing. 3. Throwing Muses (Alt Rock)A very strange group, I love thier bassist though. |

1) Robert Johnson - the Delta Blues
2) The Undertones - punk/rock (not sure this qualifies, but a quick straw poll in the office indicates not many have heard of 'em) 3) Betty Davis - funk It's been said that I could start an arguement in an empty room.....I see no reason to disbelieve this. |

Lazy Dog, Jay Hannan and Ben Watt, House with a latin influence. Superb
Dan. House techno mixes by a 16 year old Danish kid. A lot of promise from this kid. One to watch out for in the future. Christy Moore. Very famous Irish singer. Funny, political, trad' and beautiful. 'In this country, it takes all the running you can do to stay in one place.'" |

1. therapy? - energetic, crazy rock.
2. the dillinger escape plan - most people will hate it, very hardcore metal. but hugely intricate. the stuff with mike patton is brilliant. 3. add n to (x) - weirdness. but good weirdness. |

Folk metal is very very strange. One of my friends loves the Norwegian folk metal. If I remember right it's bagpipes and accordions alongside growling and guitars. Sounds quite retarded to me. Then again apparently I'm weird.

Well Delta is Australian, she stars in Neighbours, she was born on 11 September 1984.
Darren formerly was in Savage Garden, which was formed in 1997 in Brisbane. Daniel was New Zealand born, and I think he grew up in London, not sure, his fist album was Gotta Get Through this I think. Don't think I don't know about artists that originate in my own country, so I think I can safely say they bore me, except Delt she's hot but her music ain't that good. *jaw drops* Wow...didn't see that one coming? I'm sure I have a reply to this....I'm just to shocked to come up with it. *shrugs* Well, I love Darren's work. I think he's brilliant. Much more to his music then just the singles you hear on the radio. Jess |

I think it'll take some easing in. Start with Emo. You know, Blink 182
Good Charlotte , then move on to AC/DC |

Bands everyone should've heard of but not necessarily heard anything/enough by:
1. Hawkwind (kings of space rock: 1969-2004) 2. Tangerine Dream (godfathers of electronic: 1969 - 2004) 3. Ozric Tentacles (instrumental pyschedelic rock) Bands/artists people might not have heard of before but (imho) should: 1. Porcupine Tree (Floydy type prog rock) 2. Pete Namlook (the king of ambient) 3. Loop Guru (cultured world/trance crossover) so many more, so many more...

Thnaks for changing the subject. *phew*!
Haven't got any Pete Namlook. When you say ambient, please don't tell me he's like Brian Emo... I still haven't recovered from 'Music For Airports' (even had to take a day off work). |

Nah.
Pete Namlook is more like totally mind blowingly awesome ambient. Could be pure ambient / dreamscape / electronic / space / trance / techno / beatz / breakz / world / jazzy / dubby / whatever... Some of it's beatless, some isn't. Depends on the project... Some of his stuff is solo, some of it's in collaboration with others, eg. Pete Namlook = Air 1-4 / Namlook I-XVIII / Seasons Greetings Dreamfish = Pete Namlook & Mixmaster Morris From Within = Pete Namlook & Ritchie Hawtin (Plastikman) Dark Side of the Moog = Pete Namlook & Bill Laswell & Klaus Schulze The Fires Of Ork = Pete Namlook & Geir Jenssen (Biosphere) Silence = Pete Namlook & Dr Atmo Outland / Pyschonavigation = Pete Namlook & Bill Laswell etc http://www.discogs.com/artist/Pete_Namlook http://www.emusic.com/artist/10561/10561834.html http://apps.emusic.com/aasearch?rtyp...imageField.y=0 http://music.hyperreal.org/labels/fax/ lol @ Emo != Eno typo

Deliberate typo.
![]() I possess a grand total of 3 ambient albums. That's the lot. Thanks for the wealth of info on Namlook.... Here's an ambient electronic album (brand spanking new) that's given me hours of joy this week... It'll remain obscure, but it's a great, fresh album. Lots of sparkly sounds. ![]() 7 Hurtz - Electroleum |
