When I click on the Winamp icon on my quicklaunch bar, Winamp won't start and I get the following message:

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Using Winamp3 v1.0 (build #488d) by any chance?

If so, then it's no longer supported.
Further info c/o this sticky

We recommend that you upgrade to Winamp 5.01

If it is Winamp3, then you should try deleting the "Winamp3\db" dir,
or from the Winamp3 Legacy Support FAQ > Tech/Bugs section

Common Error Messages
Assertion failed
Expression: f-> ptr <f->filesize
File: C:\projects\studio\ns_database\vfs.cpp
Line: 149

Delete the contents of the "Winamp3/db" directory. This happens when the database gets corrupt. Currently there appears to be no safeguards in Winamp3 for this.

Assertion Failed
"String.printf overflow"
Expression: real_len <= length
File: C:\projects\studio\bfc\string.cpp
Line: 498

Bad skin(?). Try switching back to the default skin. Delete studio.xnf and the contents of the Winamp3/db folder.

Assertion failed
Any other error

Completely un-install and re-install Winamp.
Uninstall via Add/Remove programs, delete the Winamp3 dir, reinstall.

If you're using Winamp 5.01, then apparently, it is not an official build, because there is no way that error message can occur in Winamp 5.

You may have installed Winamp 5, but you've still got Winamp3 installed, yes? Or you installed Winamp 5 in the same dir as Winamp3 maybe?

studio-488d = Winamp3

That error message pertains to Winamp3's DB (database).
Winamp 5 does NOT use Winamp3's metatext database.
There's no way of that error message occuring with an official build of Winamp 5.

:/
