February 2004 - Your Favourites?

Right on the nail (as ever).

Reproductions - Songs of the Human League

Some good covers and some crap ones. But the good ones rock!

Keep the music playing folks or I'll hire Kylie to sing love songs outside your window....

Nice punk (of the 70's punk variety):

This one is a bitter pill, after 5 listens I just picked-out a tune. Still - no pain, no gain. It's not an album for Stereolab newbies.

I don't know, I may have to move this to the dreampop folder. 'Post Grunge' it isn't, AMG.

Assemblage 23 - Failure
*
Year - 2001
Genre: Industrial Dance, Neo-Electro, Alternative Dance

Industrial Dance (meaning darkwave), Neo-Electro (meaning electroclash)....

A very nice synth sound on this album, I've enjoyed it as much as Camouflage/Sensor & Clan of Xymox/Farewell (all have similarities). From the Metropolis label.

Julian Cope - Interpreter

Year - 1996
Genre: Alternative Pop/Rock, Post-Punk, College Rock

A very nice album from Mr Psycho. It's very Teardrop Explodes (I can hear 'Reward' in the track 'Dust'). Very nice production, I think Stereolab would be proud of the whirlie sounds.

The Sound - Jeopardy
*
Year - 1980
Genre: Post-Punk

10/10

A bit of a dark album (but post-punk being what it is). If bands like this took-hold, New Wave may never have flourished. It sounds like B-Movie (and others) but the guitars are much more prominant. A nice, perfected sound (from The Sound).

*goes off to learn some jokes*

Nice one Triton.

Not to push the boat out, but if you liked it, you should also like:

Clan of Xymox - Farewell
Camouflage - Sensor

I'm having a darkwave year. The sound suits me, I guess I'm just a............. goth.
