Browser plug-ins?

I know that we have an ActiveX OCX available to us to put in web pages, but what about good old-fashioned browser PLUGINS?

Seems like a simple enough thing to do, could be distributed with winamp and we could just use the one plugin for all stream types and codecs.

I dunno, its just a thought, but a quicktime style (read 'quicktime work-alike') NSV plugin would seriously kick ass, IMHO.
