skippy songs on kazaa?

I haven't used kazaa for a while, but the other day I needed a couple of songs, it took like 9 tries to find them without a whack of skips placed throughout the song, have I been out of the loop too long, is this some form of copy protection or delibertly placed defective songs?

It could be "dummy" files being spread by the RIAA and their ilk. It could also be some 16 year old kid who thinks ripping and encoding mp3's at 128 kbps in Real Jukebox is the way to do things. In other words.......

Who knows?

I see no stinking sig! Do you see a stinking sig?
