Winamp 5.02 Does not play

Hi !

Extremely fundamental problem. I've installed 5.02. There is no sound. When I doubleclick on a file, the name of the song appears to scroll on the winamp main window, then freeze for a few seconds and then nothing plays. If I click on the play button.. the same occurs again.

Can someone help me out please ?

Can't really help based on the lack of information provided, ie. no system specs etc.

Was this a clean install, or an upgrade from an older version?

Try the suggestions from the Troubleshooters sticky.

No sound, skippy/choppy playback, 2-speakers only, high VM usage, etc.

Sorry... here are the specs.

Freshly installed Windows 2000 (no service packs)
SoundMax Integrated Audio Drivers
Fresh Install. No previous Winamp versions.
Only other media player = Windows Media Player 9.0
Also, I have tried winamp 2.9full and 2.9lite as well. No sound at all. The progress bar does not even move, the song title appears to scroll in the winamp window though.
